I know this is a long shot but let me tell you a little bit about myself. I’m a 35 year old male. I’m a professional and just recently accepted a position as Senior Mechanical Engineer at company in downtown LA. I am looking for short term rooming accommodations through August at which time my wife and son will be joining me in LA. So that’s me on the surface. When you get to know me better you’ll find that I’m very laid back and easy going person. I love to laugh and have fun. I am comfortable meeting new people. Some say I never know a stranger and I get along easily with most everyone. I always have a smile on my face and bring a positive attitude. The only major issues I’ve had with roommates in the past is cleanliness. I don’t ask much but that the common areas be clean and clutter free. Basically, I’ll clean up after myself and you clean up after yourself. Just common courtesy in my opinion. If I sound like someone you could live with for a few months then let’s get to know each other a little better. We can text, chat on the phone and share Facebook profiles. I can also provide personal references.Thanks,JaredJared.grinstead@gmail.com919-608-6884Please email or text.

I'm staying in the lighting business just a different market. right now i work in commercial industrial lighting and i'll be moving to commercial architectural lighting. other then the market change it's a huge career move for me. significant salary increase and bonus including a significant amount of shares in the company. it's a start-up so there is potential for a nice payout if it goes public or gets acquired. they are putting together a stellar team with some big hitters so I'm excited about getting to work along side people of this caliber. putting in my resignation letter at my current employer tomorrow giving two weeks notice. I pack up the jeep and drive out to LA June 14th. start date is june 17th. this is fucking nuts balls!!btw i found a house in Beverly Hills where i'm renting a room with a couple other chills guys until my family joins me in LA in August. also big thank you to the guys who vouched for me in this thread.

^that's awesome. I've really been wanting to get out of the electrical construction business. I really enjoy the lighting side of it. Design, low voltage controls and harvesting, that kind of stuff. Just haven't ballsed up and tried to make the move.

So I put in my resignation with my current company on Friday. My boss basically said they don't want me to leave and are willing to counter offer. He told me to think about it over the weekend and Monday give him a number that it would take to keep me on board. The thing is...I don't think there is a number that they could realistically meet and I feel ok with staying. I'm extremely excited about this new opportunity, it's a great promotion and I have an opportunity to work with some really big hitters. If I stayed here I could make 40 grand more a year but I'd still be doing the same thing. Thoughts?

on the one hand your son is young enough that he'll have no problems readjusting. and it's southern California and there is so much to do.on the other hand, it's expensive as shit and a huge raise in Houston could make for a great future and more toys for you and the family. But it's Texas, and do you want to stay in Houston forever? there's a couple things to think about.
6/2/2014 12:06:41 PM
I'm going to LA. Even if they more then matched what I'd be making in LA I would always wonder "what if". Joining the company in LA is a great opportunity for my career growth. Staying in Houston not so much. So I guess that is that....

Check out westside rentals http://www.westsiderentals.com/ if you want to live on the westside. It's the side with the beach and least amount of traffic Never done the roomie thing here, but finding a place can be difficult without help.

LA is cool. Lots to do outside and great weather. Traffic is miserable, but you'll find ways to minimize or tolerate it. Good luck!
