Grew up on a strawberry farm so we always had strawberry everything...perseveres, frozen (cleans, cut, sugar), pies, strawberry bread...you name it. My favorite was this dessert thing my mama would make. Layered blueberries and blackberries (not quite in season yet) and strawberries in between layers of angel food cake and whipped cream. Simple, but delicious. Another good one is strawberries (cut up with sugar), peaches (cut up with sugar), blueberries, blackberries, and heavy cream. Thats all. Just leave it in the fridge overnight and enjoy for breakfast. [Edited on May 23, 2014 at 7:13 PM. Reason : H][Edited on May 23, 2014 at 7:13 PM. Reason : A]

can you make better threads with strawberries?
5/23/2014 7:14:10 PM
Strawberry cream pie and I'm not referring to whhip cream
5/23/2014 8:06:50 PM
Aren't strawberries sweet enough? Why add sugar... Seems excessive. Strawberry pancakes are good, strawberry creme brûlée, strawberry on pb&j, strawberries on ice cream, strawberries in cereal, strawberries muddled in Sierra mist. Or just eat them.
5/23/2014 8:15:43 PM
If you're freezing em you gotta add sugar. But yeah if you're eating them fresh a little sugar will go a long way
5/23/2014 8:18:15 PM
^ oh why is that? just as a preservative?
5/23/2014 8:37:55 PM

5/23/2014 8:45:40 PM
^^^ yeah as a preservative if you're freezing them...and it really doesn't take much sugar. I've heard of people capping them and freezing them whole, but have never done it myself.
5/23/2014 9:56:36 PM
why cant i hold all these strawberries?
5/23/2014 10:02:20 PM
You don't 'need' to add sugar if you are freezing them, that's non-sensical. Freezing is what will preserve them.So if you add sugar and freeze, how will you use them afterwards? In smoothies and baking, right? So yeah, why do you need to add sugar?

My girlfriend makes this dank ass strawberry-rhubarb pie. You should get you one of those
5/23/2014 10:40:42 PM
^^ you're right...you don't absolutely have to add sugar. But if you're gonna freeze strawberries and keep them in your freezer for several months, you're gonna get a better product if you use sugar.
