cargo shorts are the western nc SC bbq of shorts

[Edited on May 13, 2014 at 9:57 AM. Reason : nah, definitely worse than shitty western NC bbq]

More fashion advice from dtownral!

But seriously, is there a better method for defending cell phones against falls?

Not dropping them.

Posting this from my galaxy s4 in a purple and aqua defender.

I love my defender. I have had kids spill drinks on in and drool on it and I have dropped it and shoved it in diaper bags and purses and pockets. The defender is beat all to hell. My phone looks pristine.

why does it matter how your phone looks if you only ever see the cheap rubber case?

i assume that otterbox defender users have living rooms that look like:

Hey, good solution. But what if you do? Oh well, just buy a new phone, it's just money?

(i actually just have a cheap rubber case, but i was thinking about getting something more durable, because, you know, accidents happen. in most instances i choose practicality over fashion, because fashion is usually pretty silly.)

I bought the Otterbox Armor from Woot a couple months ago. Great for snowboarding, beaches, and the boat. The phone comes out as soon as I'm back in a normal environment though. That thing looks ridiculous.

I'm on a prepaid plan with no insurance on the phone, so a break would cost me $350+.

My phone functions the same whether there is a cover on it or not. Couches do not.

Yeah, bad analogy. What's your aversion to it? Is it just because it looks funny to you? I don't want plastic on my chairs because sitting on plastic is not nearly as comfortable as sitting on fabric. And it makes sounds. And it can cause sweat.

I honestly don't care how my phone looks...as long as it works the same.

phones do not function the same, defenders make them bulky and make the screen less responsive and makes touching things on the edges a pain

plus, they are dorky

I like my otterbox.

I don't drink that much anymore, but I still have a bad temper and frequently step out of the car with the phone in my lap which results in it falling face flat on the pavement.

I have the same one except it is for my Maxx. <3

Sometimes I get annoyed with my big awkward case, but I drop my phone way too much not to have it surrounded by and inch of rubber and plastic.

I didn't know people still had holsters for phones...unless you're always walking around a construction/job site type deal...why would you have one?

3^phone twins...kind of

My mother in law has a galaxy note..In a defender...on a belt holster.

Big phone in a big case strapped to her waist. And she wears tights shirts that she pulls down over her waist so you can see the entire outline of the phone.

I have a "GreatShield" I got it because it has a little kickstand on the back that I use all the time. I got tired of propping my phone against something while I was streaming.

my personal iPhone 5 has the very thin ZooGue case on it. barely noticeable and has survived many drops. it was also free. i don't think i'll ever move away from ZooGue if their next version is this good.

my work 5c has a defender case on it and it's pretty annoying. I will say though that Otterbox has come a long way, even from the iPhone 4 defender which looked like a huge brick in retrospect.

terrible analogies. you really are confirming that you're trolling. did you forget your lithium today?

(covers on couches affect functionality (and you can wash a couch), washing clothes is a lot easier than buying a new $400+ phone)

didn't you mention being a TKE, DROD900? That would make you a cargo short owner, so your opinion is invalid.

Just put a trailer hitch on your car and leave the receiver in there. People will bump that thing in the pic just because they can.

i had an otterbox commuter for about 6 months until it broke from one too many falls (the phone is/was fine)...but the commuter was the cheapest otter box they had and really isn't all that great of a case. now i have something called a "speck" case. it gets the job done and isn't quite as bulky as the commuter (although the commuter really wasn't that bulky either).

i also drop my phone a lot. in the past i've cracked the screen on a blackberry (twice) and my droid once from dropping them. iphone is still in good shape though

yes. i strapped it to the nose of the space shuttle once and it survived re-entry, while i was beating it with a hammer and pouring acid on it.
