http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/05/05/gotham-series-order/

Saw the preview for it earlier tonight. Looks pretty good. I couldn't actually tell if 12 year old Bruce Wayne is going to come across younger versions of later villains.

I see it having potential for at least a couple of seasons. I don't know that there is enough about Gotham city though, without all of its bad guys, to carry for more than that.

I'll give it a shot, maybe it'll be as good as Arrow.

Here is the full trailer: http://youtu.be/0d1zpt6k5OI, which actually looks surprisingly good imo. Where I'm really worried they are going to screw it up is with the young villains. I'm worried that they are going to try and tie all of them in with direct relationships with young Bruce somehow, which I think would be disastrous. If thy just highlighted them tangentially through Gordon's dealing with crime in the city, I think it could work

the premise sounds cool in theory, but i know good and well i'm gonna want to see fucking batman sooner rather than later, which obviously won't happen till the series finale

Bruce would be a young rich kid attending private school. Can't see him having much interaction with Harvey Dent or Oswald Cobblepot and it being realistic in the show.

Was interesting to say the least.

So Ive never read comics, did half of this come from the comics or just kinda related from the latest set of movies?

i didn't quite have the reaction I was expecting. I thought Ben McKenzie was fine. Donal Logue was laying on the comic book hamminess a little too thick. It just didn't do a whole lot for me. Also not sure what I think about this spin on Alfred.

Enjoyed it but I felt that they should have made things a little more subtle with the future villains. Throwing the Riddler in there and having him be all like "Riddle me this!" and having people tell Oswald Cobblepot that he looks/walks like a penguin multiple times was a little too much. Just felt like they were shouting "HEY THIS GUY BECOMES THE RIDDLER AND THIS OTHER GUY BECOMES THE PENGUIN".

I don't know most of them, as I am not a comic book reader and haven't seen/forgotten most of the batman movies.

Episode 2 was decent, i'll continue to tune in. I like John Doman as an actor but I feel like he's not the right fit as Carmine Falcone.

it's written as if the viewer has zero knowledge of the batman universe and we all have to have our hands held through the entire thing. it's too heavy handed at times.

"Ok, Selina.." "No, I'm Cat! Like a Cat, and i have reflexes like a Cat, and one day i'll be a woman, and people will probably call me Catwoman! wink wink nod nod!"

"Hey, you're my little Penguin... and now you walk like a Penguin, Did anyone ever tell you you walk like a Penguin??? wink wink nod nod"

91% on Rotten Tomatoes. 71% on metacritic (that's good for tv shows). All reviews have been generally favorable. I still need to watch the second episode but it appears the general reviewer populous likes it.

It it bad to say that Cat Woman/Girl (Camren Bicondova) is um, very pretty for a 15 year old girl?

BTW, Arrow is gay and it sucks. (never seen it, haha)

^^^^ Hahahaha, that is exactly what I thought when I saw Episode 1, but it wasn't as bad in Episode 2 (actually they may not have done it at all).

Obviously in an episode named after Cat Woman, they are going to show her clearly as Cat Woman. The only thing said about Penguin was, "you walk like a penguin". If anything else was said I didn't hear it because I was doing other shit while I was playing it. So far this show doesn't deserve my dedicated attention.

It was obvious that she was gonna be Catwoman the second they showed her. They don't need to repeat over and over again that she wants people to call her "cat" and stuff.

Fish referred to him exclusively as "her little penguin" a few times and even more in the last episode.

That whole Riddler thing is stupid too. I'd think that any cop working with him would just be like "Stop being an idiot and just tell me what you've found. We don't have time for this."

I find it funny you are going over the show with a microscope when it is getting obvious this show will be a 1 Season only show unless it gets DRASTICALLY more entertaining. Also that no jokes were made on what I said about the 15 year old Cat Woman.

^^you don't need a microscope to see that they are needlessly and repeatedly beating you over the head with who the villains are. The Riddler one doesn't even bother me all that much, in relation to the shit they are doing with penguin and cat woman, it almost seems subtle. There is no need whatsoever for her to go by Cat instead of Selina

Another big thing about all this needless name dropping and hints -- how are these villains supposed to maintain a "secret" identity in the future? Not much of an issue for Penguin, but Catwoman and Riddler both wear masks for a reason. Once Catwoman starts prancing around in about 20 years, it will take Gordon about 8 seconds to think "Hmmm, who have I encountered in my past that is obsessed with cats, goes by the name 'Cat', has already proved herself as being very skilled in stealth/agility, and has a history of stealing things?"

On a side note, I do agree with you on the girl that plays Catwoman, blackdog. In a few years she's gonna be a hottie. Her and that crazy girl from Walking Dead.

^ Pretty easy.. none of them have secret identities. They're all real deal full-time criminals. It's not like The Riddler works at a CVS during the day.

Well without Batman the only hero we have is Gordon, right? This makes Gotham a series solely about the villains. This presents an increased difficulty for writing an entertaining script and so far they have laid down who is who and done an episode on Cat Girl (I'm not calling a 15 year old a woman). Does this mean every episode will now be named after a villain? If so I'll stop watching after the next episode, which was my plan anyway. If they can't pull my interest off ESO and look at the 42" screen above my 24" BenQ, then the show sucks in my calculations.

I'm kind of annoyed by how big/nice Gordon's apartment is. Gotham is supposed to be a giant city, like the same size as New York right? An apartment like that would cost like millions of dollars. Definitely not something that a detective in the local police department could afford.

I didn't know her family was rich or anything -- I just figured even if so, Gordon's character seems very humble to the point that I wouldn't think he'd live in such a grand place.

Up here, I was making more than a detective before I got fired and I could only afford a 500 square foot studio apartment.

Every single TV series ever (Friends for example) has been completely unrealistic with regard to the lifestyle. The only one that got it right was The Cosby Show, where it took a lawyer and a doctor to afford a brownstone in Brooklyn.
