Premiered last night after Veep. Did anyone stay up to watch it? I thought it was well done, taking strong aspects of the Daily Show without completely robbing the exact premise. Nice use of pretaped segments as "breaks" instead of commercials and liked the way Oliver just jumped right into the show without any kind of prologue or show introduction. "Welcome to whatever this is"

I thought it was excellent. it'll be interesting to see if he'll continue to talk about under-reported major news stories. looked great, too

seemed exactly like the daily show to me, but weeklyI wish there were more VICE episodes - they were becoming like the new 60 Minutes. I know they have a whole channel online, but still.

After catching this show a few times, it is now firmly set to record on the DVR. John Oliver delivers on this show, very funny. Great topics.

GENIUS!

I love this show. His ability to entertain during a 10 minute story on some of the most boring and complicated stuff out there is really incredible

I watched the first couple of weeks, then when he thought comedy was repeated focused full frontal nudity of a 80+ year old male, I lost my appetite for it.

best show on TVwish there was a network who would take a risk and give him an even bigger platform, because he deserves to be seen by more people

old article, but new to me (and this thread)http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/09/29/last-week-tonight-does-real-journalism-no-matter-what-john-oliver-says.htmlalso:]

Show is genius

I have really enjoyed the ones I've watched. Particularly the FIFA and Televangelist episodes. They are both corrupt as hell.

Love the show but he relies too much on the "IT'S 2015!" Argument.
2/22/2016 3:48:44 PM
I'd love to hear why he thought it was necessary to give Alex Jones $100s for a 1 minute bit to make fun of purchased products. Think Jones is happy or sad about that purchase?

^^you're right, that shit is old. It's 2017!
8/1/2017 7:16:48 AM
The Alex Jones episode is utterly hilarious.
8/1/2017 1:42:46 PM
I was just annoyed when he bought the $6 whistle then I was straight up mad when he revealed he bought $100s more. Why??
8/1/2017 2:13:40 PM
I would have to try that shit too out of sheer morbid curiosity. Plus it's just a drop in the bucket if the dude can afford satanic watches. There was an SUV parked at the local health food store that had a ton of InfoWars stickers on it. I couldn't figure out if it was a troll or not. If he was trolling then it's hilarious. Usually the people who shop there are smart.
8/3/2017 10:33:32 AM
you know different health food nuts than i do, the people i know who are really into it believe in nonsense cleanses and worry about "toxins." a few buy fucking energy crystals.
8/3/2017 10:36:11 AM
Hmmm, you have a point.
8/3/2017 10:39:40 AM
I haven't been watching this show enough, but they're still doing amazing things. The Bob Murray stuff was great.
