this'll be a good social experiment
4/27/2014 5:34:32 PM
sure why not?
4/27/2014 5:36:27 PM
Nah. Plenty of other ways to make money while still being able to lay my head down on my pillow at night, with my self respect still in tact.
4/27/2014 5:36:51 PM
absolutely[Edited on April 27, 2014 at 5:37 PM. Reason : racist against my race or what?]
4/27/2014 5:37:10 PM
I mean I make like 0.5% that per year. If i would make $20,000,000 working for someone other than him I would choose that.As long as my efforts to this dude's business aren't enabling him to fund some racist PAC or something I'd probably do it.]

Racist like Paula Deen, sure. Racist like Hitler, not so much.
4/27/2014 5:43:20 PM
Not on your life. If I could make 20 million a year, I could do it for someone who wasn't racist just as easily.
4/27/2014 5:45:57 PM
^ So you wouldn't quit your current job if offered $20,000,000/year to work for the LA Clippers?[Edited on April 27, 2014 at 5:50 PM. Reason : that's what this thread is about...not if you could/do currently earn $20M]

4/27/2014 5:51:59 PM
racist against others? yesracist against me? again, yes
4/27/2014 5:56:28 PM
I'm just saying that there's a logical fallacy built in to this question. If I were offered a 20 million dollar a year position anywhere, it stands to reason that that is the salary the market will bear for my skills, and that I could have my pick of positions. If "non-racist boss" is one of the selection criteria, I feel reasonably confident that I'd be able to find another position to make that much, or I could just as easily compromise on salary to go somewhere else to meet that condition.TLDR: this "social experiment" assumes that people place money over principle. For a person with principles, this is not a contest at all.
4/27/2014 5:59:18 PM
What if the racist asshole was the top of the market and you had to sacrifice roughly $5 million per year to work for a non-racist. Would it be better to? a. work for the non-racist for $15 million b. work for the racist for $20 million and donate $5 million to support racial equality
4/27/2014 6:05:26 PM
4/27/2014 6:10:39 PM
4/27/2014 6:15:42 PM
Sure, I'd have no problem with that. 20 million a year is well beyond the value I can actually provide, so the "racist boss" is losing a lot of money by hiring me.
4/27/2014 6:16:13 PM
He's fucking a mexican/negro mixed woman and says he doesn't want black people at his games.
4/27/2014 6:16:17 PM
^. Poop. There's nothing to understand about that situation. If the comments were indeed made by the Clippers owner.... Then he believes minorities are good enough for him to pay for their services, but not good enough to socialize with on an equal footing with him. That minorities are good enough to work for him, and for him to collect money from, but need to be kept at arm's length.
4/27/2014 6:25:00 PM
Yes. I would deal with said racism as long as I could and make bank.

4/27/2014 7:31:12 PM
I'm pretty sure a lot of us already work for racists so it's whatever.^^Go with A and still donate five million. And instead of racial equality, donate for legal weed. This seems the righteous route.
4/27/2014 7:37:10 PM
^yeah if you work for anyone over the age of 50 in NC, there's a pretty good chance they're at least slightly racist
4/27/2014 7:43:16 PM
^But, seriously, yes. And definitely don't let your coworkers get drunk if you have any suspicions. They say stuff that's hard to forget, and you still have to work with them.[Edited on April 27, 2014 at 8:00 PM. Reason : I've heard it sucks.]
4/27/2014 7:45:06 PM
Yes. My tolerance for shit goes up relative to the amount I'm being compensated.
4/27/2014 7:50:39 PM
Yep i definitely work with racists. And I too can attest to the "don't get drunk with them they'll say shit you can't forget" thing.
4/27/2014 8:29:39 PM
for $20mil a year? damn skippy.
4/27/2014 8:49:12 PM
yep
4/27/2014 9:21:52 PM
Hell Yeah.If there was a company that contracted out pasty white guys to rich minorities, I'd totally be down for that. You could take me to parties and say all kinds of shit to me, or about me, to your friends. I'll memorize scripts and say stupid shit for you. I'll even eat/wear/drink crazy shit for your amusement (provided it won't make me sick/kill me/get me arrested). All for $500k a night.
4/27/2014 9:51:20 PM
Compared to what I'm making now? YesAssuming I could make 20m a year somewhere else? Nope.
4/27/2014 11:21:46 PM
^^What if you were actually exceptional, one-in-a-million, and you had to work really, really hard for years to get that opportunity because there were so few others available to you? We'd all do it, but we would not be "totally down" for it.
4/27/2014 11:35:36 PM
Yep, and I'll quit after a year without a 2 week notice.
4/27/2014 11:35:45 PM
someone like Chris Paul, who currently makes about $20M/yr working for a racist, could make just as much money for another team not working for a racistbut that's some serious fucking cash for all of us, even CliffyB
4/27/2014 11:45:09 PM
If the question is... would I work for said racist boss for $20M a year assuming no other skills than what I have right now? then yes. I'd put up with it for a while to make more money than I'd otherwise see in my life. If we assume that I'll be paid $20M a year for a skill that commands that much in the market, as kiljadn noted, then I'd take my talents to a non-racist boss.I mean this is just like the whatif game for sucking dick or whatever. Same question, but this time, it's between working for a racist boss and sucking one dick. I'd still pick the racist boss. I mean, shit, I have a racist father-in-law and it's not going to make me divorce my wife. I only have to see his dumb ass a couple of times a year.sucking dick as the only option for getting $20 million dollars? I'll assume the therapy to make me forget it ever happened is markedly less than $20 million dollars.but ultimately, these hypothetical situations don't mean shit because it will never happen.[Edited on April 28, 2014 at 12:16 AM. So who is worse in you guys' minds: Felons or RacistsBtw all y'all motherfuckers are racist as shit
4/28/2014 12:17:24 AM
^^^^^ With the Clippers deal, I don't think its all or nothing. If working for a racist was such a big problem, they all have the option of quitting, leaving their millions on the table an enjoying the nice middle class life like everyone else. That's not what's happening though. Everyone likes the paycheck more than they dislike his statements. A jersey protest isn't quite as meaningful as a walkout, but money only comes with one avenue. We live in a crony capitalist country, money is power and thats it. The owner will not likely suffer any real consequences and his employees and players, who are morally objected to his rants, will realize they can do more good taking his money than not.[Edited on April 28, 2014 at 12:18 AM. the catch is that most people probably already work for racists. work for a guy that is a "my minority girlfriend can't be seen with blacks" racist or work for a "black people fucking suck" closet racist.
