http://www.wral.com/authorities-raid-two-raleigh-convenience-stores/13586310/This store is where I got my first high gravity beer after NC raised the % years ago, it used to be a great place to get four lokos and stuff too.

Y'all might recognize this as the place across from the Wendy's that you always catch hard looks from when you're hitting up the drive-thru.

What? Something sketch happened here?
4/22/2014 7:10:22 PM
Hannah was a saint.

That place was great about not checking ID's back in the day

I wonder how Ali al-Darijay thought he could get away with letting SNAP recipients exchange their benefits for cash or alcohol.

I lived just down the street at University Oaks for two years and I never once set foot in that place.Come to think of it, I don't even know if it was a place back then. The building was there but I can't for the life of me remember what, if anything, was in it.

Ha my friend used to live literally across the street from there, and got to do a TV Interview because he witnessed a shooting there...Funny too that the sandwich/sub place on Hillsborough was named Hannahs (then became Top-C, now is a japanese restaurant), then they moved to where Jersey Mikes is now (and sold expired candy-- i'm pretty sure it was a front), now they're in this location.[Edited on April 23, 2014 at 12:25 AM. ^Oh that's right. The sub place started out as Charley's (which I'm pretty sure was a franchise judging by the decor and all the Philadelphia references), then became Hannah's, then Top C, without any real differences. The wallpaper and signage changed and the subs got renamed but they were the same subs. Always seemed a little sketchy, but the subs still tasted the same.

^^ That convenience store in the current Jersey Mike's/two-locations-ago Schoolkids spot was the frontiest front I can remember.I remember being sketched out by the Hannah's on Western, but never got close enough to think about it. The one on Wilmington clearly had something going on. [Edited on April 23, 2014 at 4:00 AM. Reason : 3]

Man, the Econo Mart was extra convenient. Really, all convenience stores are sketchy to me, but I finally had to stop frequenting this one when I was explicitly offered cash for sex.The mistake was understandable, but a line was crossed. Couldn't go back.
4/23/2014 9:03:12 AM
How much did they offer?
4/23/2014 10:54:23 AM
I guess I shouldn't have said explicitly. A gentleman grabbed his crotch and asked: "Can you break me off right quick? It will only take a minute." I looked scraggly so yeah... It happened a few months later at a gas station--late at night--when I thought I was looking kinda okay. Dude asked if I knew where the Holiday Inn was. I said that I didn't. I guess this was code, and he should have left it at that. But, apparently, I looked like such a prostitute that he had to double check. So as I was leaving, he shouted, "Are you working tonight?" When I said no, he jumped in his car and sped off. And, when I got in my car, Rick Springfield was on the radio with "Don't Talk to Strangers." And I was like: OMG, RICK, HOW'D YOU KNOW?!?!?! The Rick Springfield bit is the only reason I repeat this story. Unfortunately, there are more.

we, too, call it the Murder Martthe only times I've ever been was to buy 40's, because it just seemed like the thing to do
4/23/2014 2:30:17 PM
I just got done showing a house on Clanton street to an investor, did not point this place out as a community amenity.
4/24/2014 3:52:06 PM
Never even dreamed of setting foot in that place. Been here for over 15 years.
4/24/2014 4:09:25 PM
haha used to live around the corner from this store. Called it the stab and grab. Only actually went in once.
4/24/2014 4:45:11 PM
ThePeter and I used to live near there. We're gangsta.
4/24/2014 8:30:36 PM
Lol before this place was Hannah it just straight up didn't have a sign for most of my sophomore year.
4/24/2014 10:07:34 PM
I do find it funny that some were afraid to ever set foot in itit was just a store. a sketchy as fuck store, but it's not like they made you play russian roulette as you entered the place
