Im trying to get a feel for the the height of each side of the mating pieces of this hanger. Im thinking of using something like a ~3/4" pine plywood. Assuming the bottom piece is cantilevered 16" at each end and the top piece is anchored only at ends shown by triangles.

My guess is a 1x6 if I only supported the mirror side beam in the middle. Would still be within the stress limits for a pine board.

Why not use framing/picture wire and some anchors in studs?

Warned against. Its a narrow angle being so long I think the tension would be a bit high.

I made a frame for a bathroom mirror that I hung in my man cave. I used 1X6.

The only difference from this drawing is I switched the way the corners overlap. The horizontal cutouts go overlap the vertical cutouts instead of the way it is shown.

Then I screwed them in at the studs (At least on the bottom) using 2 1/2" or 3" screws. All the weight is on the bottom.

Not sure if that is exactly what you are trying to do or not.

edit: I think I misread what you are doing. Is your mirror already framed and you just need a single board to mount it on?

I think I'm just going to lag a piece of perforated angle iron to the wall and bolt into that
