Anybody have experience with this?I've done a little research, bought some Birkenstocks from Man-Mur for wearing around the house and in warmer weather. They are doing wonders, so far I've had no problems whatsoever.I can't wear them to work however, and am looking into getting some insoles for my shoes. A lot of people have recommended the inserts made by New Balance. I would like to check them out as well as some others. Anybody know of a place in North Raleigh that would be good to check out? Obviously the New Balance Store, but as I said I want to check out more than just those. Also trying to avoid Wal-Mart at all costs.Any help would be appreciated.

I got this after a bike accidentFor the next month or so I was wearing sandals thinking that I shouldn't keep my foot compressed, but it just never went away. Finally I read online that sandals are like the worst thing to wear if you have it, so I switched to sneakers. It went away within a week

I battled with this a couple of years ago. I'm fairly sure I bitched about it on TWW somewhere.I finally brought it up at a dr appt. He told me he'd refer me to a specialist, but to change a few things beforehand.i stopped wearing flip flops as my daily drivers and save 'em for the beach/pool. I got a few pairs of superfeet and made sure i'd have a pair in whatever shoes I was wearing.I got some house slippers that had strong arch support.I did a lot of calf stretching. Within a few weeks, the pain went away, and I haven't had any pain since. I don't really do the calf stretches anymore, but got used to the superfeet and not wearing flip flops all the damn time.good luck, it sucks.

the main issue is that shoes shouldn't be completely flat. sandals with a heel are ok (though i guess that might be rarer in mens shoes). conversely, totally flat shoes with a back such as converses, boat shoes or even poorly designed hiking boots can get you hoppin' around one one foot again. (i've even had it in both feet at once). your insurance may cover custom orthotics, so check that out if some generic ones don't bring relief. and the stretching really works, but you have to keep doing it after your pain is gone, or you're prone to relapse.[Edited on February 19, 2014 at 3:52 PM. birkenstocks always gets rid of my plantar fasciitis, and once I got rid of the shoes that was causing it, it has gone away.I used frozen nalgene bottles and a softball/bocce ball to roll under my arch which also helped. I also got an elastic arch support band from the drug store that felt awesome and that I wear through the night sometimes. My mom loves this Gaiam Restore Hot/Cold Foot Massage Roller I bought her for Christmas - http://tinyurl.com/l7r34zs[Edited on February 19, 2014 at 4:41 PM. I used to have it when I was overweight. I lost the weight and now it's gone.

I had problems with this back when I used to run a lot. Other than what's already been suggested here I would nightly ice my arch by rolling my foot on a bottle of liquor that I kept in the freezer. And after physical activity involving a lot of leg use I would soak my feet in ice water for 15-20 minutes.

I have dealt with this off and on for several years. The best inserts I have found are Superfeet 3/4 Length Insoles. They are available at Amazon:http://www.amazon.com/Superfeet-Delux-Insoles-Three-quarter-X-Large/dp/B00B802TNW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392911033&sr=8-1&keywords=superfeet+3+4Superfeet also makes other insoles and you can find them at REI and probably other places locally.I have prescription orthotics, but like the Superfeet Insoles much better.

I dealt with this a little over a year but it was from running.Wearing a strassburg sock overnight helps if you can fall asleep with it on. Stretching the lower calf is supposed to help as well but its not immediate relief. There's some feet strengthening exercises that will help long term. Like standing on one foot near a wall, leaning towards it and pushing off with your hands. Forces you to balance and activates a lot of foot muscles. One leg deadlifts with a kettlebell also wears the feet out.In any case, its obnoxious as hell.

I had this in 2011 while training for a half marathon. It totally sucked. Went away coincidentally when I started wearing clogs and compression stockings on a regular basis for nursing school and work. I also wear supportive sandals now in the summer- Keens give support without annoying my arch too much. Haven't had an issue since.
