Carl Sagan's show is coming back, hosted by Neil DeGrasse Tyson
1/31/2014 9:03:08 AM
I'm surprised at Fox. This isn't the type of show I'd expect them to air, especially on a Sunday evening. I'll definitely be watching!
1/31/2014 9:39:57 AM
Fox probably realized they need something to fill the sunday night football slot. As big as Planet Earth was a few years back, they probably figured they could pull the same type of audience.
2/1/2014 10:21:56 AM
Welp, looks like Downton Abby will get to be watched the next day on the computer!
2/1/2014 7:05:52 PM
I just realized this comes on at the same time as True Detective, The Walking Dead, and Shameless, and my DVR only records 3 things at a time
3/3/2014 8:25:35 PM
they're airing this simultaneously on 10 networks.
3/4/2014 12:04:42 AM
BUMPSPACE!
3/9/2014 3:17:37 AM
^^^It's time to give up The Walking Dead.
3/9/2014 3:26:55 AM
15 mins
3/9/2014 8:44:41 PM
I don't know what this is, but y'all are excited so I am, too.
3/9/2014 8:48:34 PM
Subtly pro-atheist viewpoint being promoted in one of the biggest tv presentations ever. OrIf it follows in the footsteps of previous cosmos, one of the best summaries and visualizations of the current sum of all human scientific knowledge.
3/9/2014 9:03:06 PM
Produced by Seth MacFarlane, soooooo...
3/9/2014 9:24:29 PM
Pretty good so far, if not a little Eurocentric.
3/9/2014 9:39:06 PM
^that was science history. What did you figure if they are going to tell the history of science?
3/9/2014 10:00:31 PM
huh?Wow I did not know Neil Tyson knew Carl Sagan.
3/9/2014 10:01:33 PM
I mostly enjoyed it.Like most other shows of its ilk, it really harped on the "OMG GUISE WE ARE SO TINY" point.
3/9/2014 10:03:40 PM
I'm boycotting this show because it bumped Bob's Burgers to 7:00 pm, a.k.a. THE TIMESLOT OF DEATH
3/9/2014 11:45:42 PM
Great show! Although I bet it would be better in 3D
3/10/2014 9:28:03 AM
^^Get Hulu+ and watch both of them any time you want.
3/10/2014 5:41:49 PM
i think you don't understand what boycott means.7:00pm is where shows on sunday go to die. It's not that I can't watch bob's burgers then, it just means that Fox is basically giving up on it for more seth macfarlane crap.also i hate seth macfarlane and all his damn shows that are all the damn same.
3/10/2014 6:25:45 PM
Cosmos is pretty much the complete opposite of all Seth McFarlane's typical shows.
3/11/2014 8:52:44 AM
really enjoyed it. looking forward to more episodes. the presentation and especially visuals are great
3/11/2014 9:02:03 AM
I watched the first episode and i'm glad to see a lot of commonality between it and the original... with the cosmic calendar, cosmic address, etc.
3/11/2014 10:02:57 AM
I also really enjoyed it. The visuals were really really well done. If scantily clad women are eye candy, then this was eye bacon.
3/12/2014 9:56:31 AM
i watched the first couple episodes of the original series last night. Carl Sagan mentioned life on other planets at least a dozen times. I'm relieved that NDT didn't really mention it
3/12/2014 3:07:56 PM
I'm sure he will at some point.
3/12/2014 3:42:51 PM
It could be that we know more about whether life could possibly exist on the planets we've been able to observe and it seems less likely now than it did 30 years ago.
3/12/2014 7:04:22 PM
did you really just put that on the internet
3/12/2014 8:21:45 PM
3/12/2014 8:43:35 PM
That was awesome. I hope that a few heads exploded on the right because of it.
3/16/2014 10:03:25 PM

Great episode last night! Really interesting stuff. I'm continually surprised that this is airing on FOX considering how NDT blatantly said that evolution was scientific fact -- I'm sure that pissed off a lot of people. They did a really good job of presenting the evidence though. Also, my niece and nephews liked all the dogs it showed
3/17/2014 10:32:58 AM
Boycotting. Evolution is the gospel of Satan.

3/17/2014 12:31:54 PM
I am very happy to see a mainstream show (ironically on Fox) sticking it to the anti-science crowd.
3/17/2014 3:54:23 PM
Fox and Fox News are not the same entity
3/17/2014 4:12:49 PM
It came on last night? That's strange. I couldn't find it anywhere on the guide and it didn't record, either.
3/17/2014 5:48:34 PM
its on again Nat Geo tonight at 10pm.

http://www.space.com/25279-cosmos-patrick-stewart-voices-astronomer.htmlPatrick Stewart voices William Herschel in the next episode I have thoroughly enjoyed this series so far. I showed the first episode to my astronomy class one day after a test. I especially enjoyed learning a little bit more of the back story between Halley and Newton. I knew that Halley essentially bankrolled a part of Newton's research, but I was intrigued by the way the drama was portrayed in the series. (embellished or not)

"...the outermost planet, Neptune,..."
3/30/2014 9:07:04 PM
Damn straight!
3/30/2014 9:35:59 PM
i mean... it IS the outermost planet.even as a kid i thought pluto was an odd outlier and it makes complete sense to classify it as something besides one of the main planets. (of course classification is a man-made system so it's completely up to us what we call things... makes no difference to those things what we call them.)
3/30/2014 9:47:27 PM
I like how "We're entering uncharted scientific territory" is code for "This is probably totally wrong, but let's just go with it"
3/30/2014 9:56:01 PM
Yeah, it was basically "we're gonna make shit up, but it's ok because we made it look cool."
3/30/2014 10:01:19 PM
The 3d animation budget is in the millionsThe 2d animation budget is like $5
3/30/2014 11:25:23 PM
I actually like the 2d art style a lot.
4/1/2014 12:01:34 PM
Its ok to me. That said, they want you to know its 2d. Which is good. Sometimes 3d is overdone in my opinion to the point its bad. Their 3d is spot on though.
4/1/2014 9:34:39 PM
i wouldn't be surprised if the "2d" is actually using "3d" for some trickery
