I'll be out of the country for the next 3 years. Currently I'm month to month with Verizon milking my unlimited data plan. What are my options for international service? Data ?What's most cost effective?if it helps I'll be in St. Maarten for 2 years, then Ireland for 1]

you'll need a phone capable of GSM. the cheapest is to get an unlocked GSM phone and then buy a local pre-paid sim in the country you'll be in. you can also get a straight talk sim with international unlimited for like $60/month from the UShttp://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Moto-Global-GSM-Unlocked/dp/B00GWR36F6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1388243650&sr=8-3&keywords=motorola+moto+ghttps://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/home/shop/serviceplans/!ut/p/b1/04_Sj9S1NLQ0NTAzNjfRj9CPykssy0xPLMnMz0vMAfGjzOJdDLx8jQMdPYyCPMxNDTwDPJyD3c39DEwcjfXD9aPwKjEwx6_A380IqsAAB3A00M-N8nINdFRUBAASniCj/?s=y

Isn't that straight talk plan only for calling from the US?

Unlocked GSM + local sim for cell and data (If mobile vikings expands to Ireland by the time you get there, I recommend them hands down.)Magic Jack for calls to the US.

Awesome, yeah I'll probably go with chippie while I'm on st maarten, but I was not e,cited about the flip phone they sold as their only option. That Motorola looks like it'd do just fine

Not moving abroad, but will be in Ireland for a few weeks later in the year.Ideas on what to do for a phone? I have an s3 on virgin, so I'm pretty sure there's no way in hell I'll be able to use that in any way.Burner phone? Rental? I don't even know if that's possible. I've done literally no searching because I'd honestly prefer to come for pointers from you guys rather than try to wade through fucking yahoo answers google search results to find a legitimate website.
