i think they were going after a Datsun 510 revival, which in theory would be awesome. the silhouette is mostly in line with that intent, but the aesthetic details are terrible IMO.

to be fair though, the early FT86 concepts looked terrible too, but the final product came out looking pretty sweet. i guess only time will tell.

^???? The original FT86 concept looked awesome.

This design would look a helluva lot sweeter if all vertical dimensions were cut by 6 inches. Car looks way too choppy otherwise and while 19" wheels are ridiculous for a vehicle of this size they are pretty much mandatory with these huge slab sides

stupid EU pedestrian impact standards, ruining the shit out of new cars, along with U.S. Federal mandated equipment, and EDRs.

meh. to each his own, TKE, but i think that concept looks terrible compared to the final product.

edit: but back on topic, hopefully that improved design shift happens with this Nissan concept too.

^^ See, totally like the old school Datsun you just posted:

As for as modern interpretations of Datsun go, they are pretty good. Yeah, they are overdone a bit, but that's because they are concept cars. I hope they tone them down and make production versions!

The one that I posted, even before I could see its name, I thought to myself "That car looks like a Datsun!"

"Nissan has unveiled today in Tokyo the interesting BladeGlider concept which according to the Japanese automaker has the potential of becoming "the best handling production car in the world."

It's more than just a simple concept to attract attention as the BladeGlider will actually serve as the basis for an upcoming production model."

I would really like to see side view mirrors on the front fenders instead of the a pillars in the production model.

I could be wrong but I don't see that bladeglider passing crash tests.

I actually rather like both of those concepts.

The bladeglider looks like a toy. Or the bastard child of a Prowler and a top fuel dragster.

I like both of them as well. Wouldn't own one if it were put to production, but it's not bad to look at.

way old news, but those douchebags cancelled the IDx (neo-510). Just as well; I wouldn't buy any new car coming out now (or a used example of the same in a year or two), because I think automated stuff will be coming within a few years...

but shit, whatever they build now, they might as well make it cool and fun.
