So what's the deal with this?Is it over the bidding war with kentucky or the retainer bonus for his junior season?
11/2/2013 1:50:24 PM
unfortunately it's neither
11/2/2013 1:52:36 PM
WRAL investigates, looks like Amerson is involved. I smell UNC level punishments from the NCAA
11/2/2013 1:53:42 PM
I think you mean punishment that UNC should have gotten. I think we're gonna lose half or scholarships in all sports and will have to retroactively forfeit all basketball games we've ever played.
11/2/2013 2:00:47 PM
it's that booster that recently got banned from campus
11/2/2013 2:01:00 PM
wouldn't that be some shit if we go down over a guy who wasn't even good?
11/2/2013 2:10:19 PM
he's like our Chris Hawkins, minus the trips to Vegas and felony cocaine trafficking charges
11/2/2013 2:12:26 PM
It's clearly a point shaving scandal.
11/2/2013 2:13:13 PM
^LOLOLOL
11/2/2013 2:13:52 PM
That's it, I'm abandoning state for Oregon.
11/2/2013 2:13:59 PM
^Been there, done that after the 2005 loss to UNC @ CF
11/2/2013 2:54:15 PM
The booster in question volunteered to pose for footage on the street. We good.
11/2/2013 4:26:50 PM
I hope the football team gets the death penalty. it would be a mercy killing.
11/2/2013 4:31:45 PM
It is WRAL trying to deflect from the continuing UNC issues.
11/2/2013 5:37:40 PM
^^Maybe they could start winning some games by releasing people from schollys and bringing in some walk-ons.
11/2/2013 10:11:31 PM
It's some "both sides are equally guilty" false equivalency bullshit to rectify the UNC scandal coverage and make sure UNC fans keep watching.
11/3/2013 10:16:32 AM
^seriously. Who didn't see this coming?
11/3/2013 10:36:17 AM
WRAL Investigates!(A year old self-reported violation with self-imposed sanctions already approved by the NCAA)So glad they were able to get to the bottom of this!
11/3/2013 10:55:49 AM
Is this just the same stuff that got Leslie suspended for 3 games? Like, the NCAA already knows about it and the booster has been banned from the program...or is this something different?
11/3/2013 11:18:37 AM
story coming Monday?http://www.wral.com/wral-investigates-former-nc-state-football-player-booster/13064627/(this was originally posted late Friday, so not old)[Edited on November 3, 2013 at 11:22 AM. Reason : d]
11/3/2013 11:21:51 AM
lol, this is laughable. We've already self reported violations to the NCAA AND sent this cat two separate disassociation letters. Yet now WRAL is doing some great "Investigative" reporting? wtf?Sounds like Mr. Leak is butt hurt and feels like he needs a few minutes on television.
11/3/2013 11:34:38 AM
yeah, its weird... and if they have to "big story" why are they waiting?
11/3/2013 11:38:11 AM
^they're waiting for Monday so this can be talked about on sports talk shows all week long. Theres a reason they released most of the UNC stuff on Fridays. No shows on during the weekend. By the time Monday comes around, everyone has forgotten about it and moved on to other stories. With this coming out Monday, now the shows can talk about it all week long.
11/3/2013 11:44:51 AM
that's some hardcore shit
11/3/2013 11:46:56 AM
11/3/2013 12:07:56 PM
good. I was feeling god that we dodged the whole Hickson/Howell thing. I never quite trusted Lowe to cover his tracks. I feel like Gottfried with his college and SEC experience is more polished at paying recruits/players
11/3/2013 12:11:45 PM
luckily Jaybee ate the popcorn gifs before he could post them
11/3/2013 12:43:07 PM
11/3/2013 12:44:36 PM
thats the only explanation for releasing a teaser on a story
11/3/2013 12:51:29 PM
^^ hahahahahaha[Edited on November 3, 2013 at 12:51 PM. Reason : d]

Now I don't necessarily understand the Monday thing, but it is quite obvious that UNC has been releasing their FOIA requests and other self-incriminating info about their scandal on Fridays so that the heat cools down by Monday, when there is NFL and NCAA to talk. That's been their PR tactic all along...face nails it again, this time on NCAA compliance. Every school cheats, I hope Gottfried can cheat on the level of UNC, but not get caught... tough though with those WRAL bastards right beside our campus trying to fuck with our program at every possible turn. That's what fucking rustles my jimmies, the huge margin of error in cheating that the NCAA & media affords to schools like UNC, Alabama and Duke, while NC State can't afford one tiny mistake lest our program gets burnt to the ground...[Edited on November 3, 2013 at 1:17 PM. they reported on the UNC scandal(s) on a daily basis, yet there is only an anti-NC State bias when they do a report on usof course it's sensationalized, and of course they are going to run ads for it during the UNC-State game. that's how tv works.
11/3/2013 1:25:09 PM
The only way to know that is if we had an AFAM + Football + Fats scandal and all UNC had was some booster paying Reggie Bullock, you think WRAL would leave us untouched? Remember they had a chance to dig into the dentists and Fats angle but they didn't...
11/3/2013 1:28:18 PM
this phenomenon of "breaking news on certain days" is not specific to UNC. this goes far beyond sports.[Edited on November 3, 2013 at 1:38 PM. Reason : .]
11/3/2013 1:36:40 PM
they had a chance to do an "investigative report" on so many issues of the unc scandal (and still do), but didn't for whatever reason. most of the "breaking news" stories that wral ran were published a while after the folks on packpride had already broke the stories.and again, most of the time a new "prong" was revealed in a WRAL story, the article was in fact run on friday afternoons. and again, i don't recall them running a teaser commercial about how they would be doing an "investigative report" in several days, and running the commercial over and over days in advance, even though "that's how tv works".dude, i understand where you're coming from and i'm also annoyed with lots of state fans who believe in a curse, and nc state shit, and overreact about stupid shit, but you're being a bit obtuse by trying to be so "objective" in this instance.
11/3/2013 1:40:27 PM
this is a pretty neat site https://web1.ncaa.org/LSDBi/exec/miSearchyou can pull up copies of reports of all NCAA investigations...as far back as State and UNC in the 50s, to UNC's shit from last year

it's going to be a 4 minute (max) piece on the 6:00 news, and none of us have any idea what the conclusion will bechill
11/4/2013 8:57:50 AM
Does this mean we can go back and give ourselves ACC title rings?
11/4/2013 9:14:07 AM
From the ads they're running you'd think it was going to be an hour-long exposeWE DELVE IN TO NC STATE'S COMPLEX WEB OF LIES
11/4/2013 9:16:24 AM
if the university is having trouble keeping someone away from athletes, i want it to be a public issue with that person's face and name all over the news. i'm fine with transparency.
11/4/2013 9:22:52 AM
Self impose a bowl ban this year. Oh we have to make a bowl first?
11/4/2013 9:26:01 AM
imagine it's just a ratings ploy.i lol'd that they have footage of the guy.
11/4/2013 9:26:16 AM
If the punishment fits the crime, then based upon what they did over at UNC, they should probably go ahead and award us a few extra scholarships per year and say we made the final four 2 years ago.
11/4/2013 9:36:41 AM
As bad of a hack job as this is by WRAL, there are two important things to consider. Getting to the bottom of something, you have to A) investigate and B) have someone willing to talk about it. With regards to WRAL and UNC, neither is present. With NCSU, both are. Leak wants to clear the air and is willling to talk. WRAL is willing to listen. Shouldn't really be too much to this. Keep in mind NCSU self reported the issue last year while sending Leak the offical disassociation letter. A no trespass letter was sent recently as well. NCSU is doing their part and keeping the NCAA advised. This is the opposite approach that UNC has taken with Fats, Chris Hawkins, John Blake, Wichard etc, etc. The only person UNC has thrown under the bus is the tutor AFTER it was revealed she was writing papers for the athletes that the NCAA discovered, not UNC reporting it.
11/4/2013 9:52:47 AM
Wait, so they sent Leak an offical disassociation letter? We should have hired Leak on as an assistant coach, that way we'd be in the clear.
