When you do not renew your lease (of course with a 30 day notice), is there any grace period to be vacated of the premises or do you have to be vacated by the expiration of the lease?

Most leases require a 60 day notice, just FYI.

You generally have until they open the office the day after your last day of the lease. If you drop the keys in the drop box at any point before they open the following day you should be fine.

I do not ask you about your FYI, I hate it when people do that. You don't think I know some leases requires 60 day notice, but in my case I have to give 30 day notice per my pending lease agreement?

And yet you don't know when you have to vacate the premises. I can't imagine why anyone would assume you might not know about other basic, boilerplate lease stuff.

I answered your question. You're welcome.

Do you have to be present for the apartment inspection?

I am asking these specific questions because no information in my lease agreement encompasses these questions.

I just want to know what legalities are involved with properly vacating a lease; I have never not renewed a lease, so all this is new to me.

its pretty easy, you move all your stuff and dont come back. why would you think there is a grace period? you arent paying anymore so you have to be out.

I would hate to pay a month-to-month fee just to stay for a few days over (or maybe a week). I may not can leave until a little while after my lease it up, so I may just have to suck it up and pay it! However on the bright side I maybe be able to move right at the very end of November.

Random question

Why do leases have an abandonment clause? I mean, if you pay the fucking rent and the place isn't falling apart, why the hell do they care if there's nothing in there and you're not around?

Ask your landlord or apartment complex peoples...I had to stay a few extra days once and they just gave me a prorated rent for about 2 dAys.

Yeah I thought about asking about that, but these people are huge assholes that run this place. I just hope I don't have to pay for the entire month. That's a lot of cash just for a while longer.

most places will give you some prorated days if they dont have anyone lined up to move in right after you.
