If I get one right away it will be xbox since I like the launch titles better, but I'm not sold on getting either right away. Also I will have to see exactly how good the tv integration is.

I will likely give it a few months and let them work the bugs out and hear peoples experiences. I don't play many games on mine anymore so whichever one is the best bluray player and media streamer will probably win out. Will be nice for the PS4 to at least be wireless N this time should help with streaming HD video from my PC at least.

I have preordered both, but will probably cancel the PS4. I have a 360 and am pretty invested in the Live ecosystem.

I'm really looking forward to Forza 5, I play 4 a lot. It's about the only game I play anymore

I need to pre-order a PS4 is there anywhere that I can order one or is someone willing to give me their pre-order for the exact price if they plan on getting and Xbox One? I would prefer a bundle that comes with the PSN+ card inside.

I pre-ordered an Xbox but I don't want to start out with that with the next gen.

I think PS4 will win this gen. Better hardware, cheaper, earlier release, bigger marketing push, and most interesting to me is really good dev support for indies.

I haven't preordered but I'll pick one up when available. Prob whenever Drive Club comes out which just got pushed back from launch.

^^ you think wrong, and I don't say that as a fanboy. this gen will be all about the adoption of digital delivery and sony's ecosystem still sucks. also, MS has the advantage of azure integration for dedicated server hosting and a much better development tool chain since the dev environment for windows should be virtually identical. the point about the hardware is also inaccurate in practice as there are optimizations to generate better performance in generic, synthetic benchmarks, but the difference is negligible. hdd performance will have a far greater effect than memory bandwidth if the assets have to be loaded in or out of memory.

having said all that, I have both preordered and am sure i'll buy 2x the games for pc than I do for both of these combined

i want to like the ps4 but i cant get into their ecosystem and i like xbox live. as much people bang on live because it costs money, it always works, relatively safe, easy to communicate with friends, etc. plus pretty much all of my friends are on xbox.

Yeah, none of that is true. The PS4 has a non-trivial hardware advantage over the XBox One that no amount of "optimizations" can account for. This isn't last gen either where the performance difference was hard to quantify due to vastly different architectures. Both consoles use the same AMD APU technology, the PS4 just has a 50% larger GPU and a better memory subsystem. There's a reason why all multi-platform games have been shown on PS4 first, including CoD:Ghosts, a series that MS has money-hatted since Modern Warfare. It's actually easier to develop for than the MS console this time around.

With that said, I agree with the general consensus that the PC will reign supreme. Both consoles are vastly underpowered compared to contemporary PC hardware, which historically hasn't been the case. New consoles usually enjoy ~2 year window where they push the envelope graphically over the PC. This time, you will be able to play console ports on your PC at a higher resolution with a better framerate from day one, and you don't even need the latest hardware to do it.

^^ GTA is the only thing really happening as a group, but the last week or so it's only been 2-3 people. Shame, really, because it's a ton of fun with several. I think the server issues and late inclusion of heists has turned a lot of people off to the game, at least until they get those things under control.

will support used games, but nothing about digital used games.


That's about it for the biggest negatives from the FAQ. A lot of other info like HDD dimensions, the number of friends, controlling the notifications, recording game play with Sony's built in feature for now, and a bunch of other things.

The gifs are funny, but that place is horrible. Anytime I see something cited on neogaf I usually stop right there.

I mean, you can draw whatever opinion you like from a youtube video, but ~50% more pixels (or >100% for CoD) is an objectively massive difference. There is no way in hell you won't be able to tell on any HDTV >32" from a reasonable viewing distance. That's like people who insisted that Blu-rays were no better than DVDs. Does it warrant the over the top reactions we're seeing on gaming forums/blogosphere? No, of course not, but this isn't like a missing tree or a blurry texture. Companies have spent billions of dollars developing and promoting higher resolution displays. Don't tell me it doesn't matter, or that consumers don't/won't care.

This. I don't think people need to be hitting the panic button on resolution differences for launch games that were engineered for old hardware too anyway. What it does do is raise a red flag that the XBONE may be more difficult to utilize and develop for. Nobody should actually be hitting a ceiling on the new hardware before they've even launched.
