Can someone with some knowledge on trap music weigh in here. How can all these electronic producers call their music "trap music," when trap music mostly refers to rap beats for southern hip hop, right? It's one thing to incorporate some things from one style of music, it's another to just outright steal the name from that style of music, right? Or am I missing something?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trap_(music_genre)

Trap takes a lot of its inspiration from trap music; it has the bass/percussion-heavy rhythms, but it blends it with general EDM trends. I think that's why generally DJs/producers of trap refer to their genre as trap and not trap music. See: Hucci, Flostradamus, TNGHT, etc
