Wait, isn't he Canadian? Canadians can't be president. I didn't think Canadians could be president.

he'd get a shitload of votes off his last name alone
10/13/2013 11:08:45 AM
his mother was born in Delaware
10/13/2013 11:11:55 AM
And...?
10/13/2013 11:13:06 AM
it all depends if he was a c-section baby or not.
10/13/2013 11:17:54 AM

You are pointing to an Wikipedia article referencing an opinion column on CNN titled "Ted Cruz can be president, probably"...
10/13/2013 11:33:51 AM
I wouldn't be surprised if this issue ends up in the supreme court.
10/13/2013 11:36:35 AM
I didn't think Kenyans could be president either...

if a child's mother is a citizen the child is a citizen of the US even if they were not born/live on US soil until the age of 18. I think at 18 you have to declare citizenship as an adult.I'd pull up links to prove it and shit but I'm lazy and you assholes should have paid better attention in fucking middle school when they taught this shit.
10/13/2013 12:39:34 PM
you're correct, I had to give up my dual citizenship at 18
10/13/2013 12:43:48 PM
It's not always that simple, DDK. I believe at least one of his parents needs to have been a citizen AND needs to have been in the US for 5 years. And that allows the kid to be naturalized.I think the concept of "naturally born citizen" is still nebulous at best.

I'm sure the Republican Party will have no problems mobilizing behind a Canadian Hispanic. It's in the bag, really.

I hope the success of his candidacy paves the way for other immigrants to become president. It's a travesty that we have 2 classes of citizenship. It seems unamerican that a kid who grew up here but born elsewhere and is the fullest allowable level of legal citizen, still can't be president.

Don't forget his Dad is a Cuban national! Love to hear how the birthers rationalize this!Surely the rumors of Cruz being born in Canada are false and part of the LIBERAL MEDIA CONSPIRACY!

I sure am an American. Love this nation. So proud. I did good
