No arguing over cause/solution, just curious who is actually affected. If the shutdown continues, I may not get my living stipend (1200) and my disability check (250) in November. A medical appointment with the VA might get cancelled. Also, I was in the hiring process for a federal job, and that process has grinded to a halt.

no salary, but I'm getting backpay for this silliness, so free paid vacation before I found out we were getting backpay, I was eating ramen noodles and doing other cheap things

We're trying to bring a guy from the London office to our office here, which will free me up to focus 100% on other projects, but they're not doing visas right now, so....Although I will probably be severely impacted (just like everyone else in finance) if the debt ceiling is hit.

I'm working on a military base that has a skeleton crew manning the guard shack, so we're having to delay vehicles getting on base. It's probably going to slow down the project.

^^i think they are still processing visas til their funding runs completely dry. We've got a similar situation where I'm trying to bring on some overseas help

I will not be getting my requested advanced DLA and Travel for the move from Florida to NC. That pay could also be delayed after I check in to my new squadron. I was counting on that money so I wouldn't have to drain my savings for the move.

I work on a federally funded contract, so I can't communicate with my customer.... Which is essential to parts of my job.My company also announced that starting Monday, they will furlough about 3000 people, and expect to furlough more as each day goes on.

our office is using FY13 funds for about 4 weeks, so we'll stay open for that long if it lasts that longmeanwhile we'll get paid for our work during the shutdown (actually DURING from what I understand, not backpay after its over)

It has affected engineering support I can provide to the fleet. Its shitty and I hate it, but I have to follow orders from my chain of command too.
10/15/2013 6:42:05 PM
we haven't said the pledge of allegiance at the beginning of the day since the shutdown started.
10/17/2013 4:25:44 PM
you should stick with never saying it
