http://twitchy.com/2013/10/01/surprise-obamacare-health-insurance-exchange-websites-dont-work/Despite the fact that this particular article was posted at 6:45am, more than an hour before the exchanges were even set to open, the point remains - no one in the country can sign up for healthcare right now because they don't even have a functioning account creation process
10/1/2013 9:21:13 AM
Have you actually tried to go to healthcare.gov yourself? It loads fine for me and takes me immediately to start applying for the NC marketplace. I assume some users may experience issues due to the number of people accessing the site, but it seems to be working fine now
10/1/2013 9:23:51 AM
I have attempted to do so myself. It's the 3rd page of the account creation process, first you do name/email, second you do username/password, and third are these security questions that aren't showing up...If they fixed it, they would have had to do so in the last 10 minutes
10/1/2013 9:26:33 AM
I figured out how to sign up.I'm Krallum and I approved this message.[Edited on October 1, 2013 at 9:28 AM. Reason : ^okay I didn't actually sign up because I'm too lazy and I already have healf care]
10/1/2013 9:27:04 AM
I made it past that point... but now I don't when I tried to get a screenshotIt's not a big deal, enrollment is open for months and this initial surge of people trying to access the site will go down.
10/1/2013 9:28:06 AM
I can't even get the Log In screen to load
10/1/2013 9:34:41 AM
>so many people wan't to access the health insurance exchange that the website is suffering from the demand>"God Damn Obamacare! No one wants you!
10/1/2013 9:36:22 AM
Yeah, no security questions showing up.I'll probably give it a couple days. I'm planning to get insurance through my work anyway, but I was just curious how it would compare.
10/1/2013 9:37:27 AM
I just want to reiterate because I've seen the opposite posted many times since this morning, this problem is NOT related to traffic aka "well of course it's busy"that is not the problem here. somehow, through the years of planning and design work and web development of the website, no one checked to make sure an actual user account could be created...explain to me the process where web traffic could make the entire rest of the site load speedily but a dropdown list fail and i'll eat my words.this is a facepalm, not a "just try again later"[Edited on October 1, 2013 at 12:32 PM. Tried to make account around 3 AM. Got through all the steps, including the security questions, and then saw "an account cannot be created, an error occurred."FWIW, there is no NC marketplace. The state government turned down the money that would've made it available.
10/1/2013 12:34:35 PM
exchanges didn't open until 8am this morning anyway I thought
10/1/2013 12:38:40 PM
Went through just now trying to make an account and although I saw the security questions and chose questions and answers, it kicked me back saying my answers matched when they didn't. Something wonky is going on.
10/1/2013 12:48:23 PM
Make sure you're not putting the letter "G" at the end of any of your words.Remember, you're poor people, and you have to talk like Obama does when he's addressing poor people.
10/1/2013 12:50:38 PM
do you think it is down cause the gubmint ain't working?

ha, this is comical. I figured I would go to the site to see what all the issues were about or if there were no issues, just see what was offered. At the end of the registration the verification link was emailed, and i clicked, literally within 10 seconds of receipt, to which I got the response that I had waited too long. Then tried again and it said it could not verify, but to try later, a third try got the same response as the first. nice try america

Would you not have the database mirrored on multiple servers to offload request strains? Even I know that.
10/2/2013 11:02:54 PM
You are assuming competence of gov't programmers. That's usually not a good assumption.Even then, continuously running the exact same query that tends to return the exact same result is absurd, even if you do it over a load-balanced set of database nodes. Cache the stupid list and be done with it.
10/2/2013 11:27:54 PM
your explanation (also present in the article) explains why I don't have to eat my words. because that is still an asinine design issue and the problem doesn't stem directly from the traffic. yes the traffic made the design flaw prominent but it was a rookie mistake even without the traffic.

shit still doesn't work. I expect nothing less from the government.
10/3/2013 8:46:55 AM
With the exception of the few In this thread that got in with no issues... Has anyone really gotten in?
10/3/2013 9:13:03 AM
late last night I was finally able to create my account. but now it doesn't recognize the login information. using the forgot password link results in an error stating the profile wasn't found.
10/3/2013 9:26:23 AM
just sign up over the phone using TRACS
10/3/2013 9:27:10 AM
the next time any of you conservatives start arguing for more privatization and outsourcing, i am going to bttt this thread
10/3/2013 9:35:01 AM
wait are conservatives for or against outsourcing? i can't figure it out
10/3/2013 9:41:54 AM
If they actually believe in capitalism they do
10/3/2013 9:46:59 AM
Are you people just bitching to be bitching or do you really have some important need to get in on Day 1? Shit happens. You can take down any server with enough traffic. This is nothing unheard of in the tech world.
10/3/2013 9:47:00 AM
or day 3.[Edited on October 3, 2013 at 9:48 AM. Reason : and yes, I have a somewhat urgent need. ]
10/3/2013 9:48:15 AM
HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN TO YOUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!
10/3/2013 9:49:15 AM
i don't even need the exchange. i'm just curious about what it would cost me.
10/3/2013 9:54:52 AM
I'm pretty sure this is the first website to ever have some bugs upon launch and the first government program to ever get off to a rocky start. Thanks Obama.

it's really not that hard to provide a much easier, user-friendly experience.

I'm just trying to figure out my options. 10% of our income is not practical

10/3/2013 4:08:15 PM
I finally got my account created and when I try to login it says my login information isn't valid. So I asked for the link to reset my password, I get the link and receive this message "We weren't able to process your request because we couldn't find a Marketplace profile that matched the information that you provided."
10/3/2013 4:21:17 PM

As hard as it is to believe that 3 years after passing the law, they still don't have a working website...it's even harder to believe that they didn't realize what the 800 number for the exchanges spelled out.[Edited on October 3, 2013 at 6:42 PM.
