Also I think it's interesting what Gawker did with the mugshot. They turned this:into this:Looks more frightening right? He goes from looking like Artie Lang to a Ariel Castro kinda guy]
9/30/2013 2:06:51 PM
This is why I don't own a gun because I have no problem with shooting someone in the legs trying to steal something from you. He shouldnt have killed the guy but I dont blame him for firing some shots.
9/30/2013 2:15:02 PM
he kinda looks like a shitty human being in both of them
9/30/2013 2:15:24 PM
9/30/2013 2:17:26 PM
You are King Shitheel if you fucking shoot a human being over a fucking 12-pack of beer, shooting to kill or not.
9/30/2013 2:18:08 PM
I don't own anything worth shooting someone over[Edited on September 30, 2013 at 2:19 PM. Reason : asd]
9/30/2013 2:18:11 PM
So you shoot him in the leg, hit is femoral artery and he dies. Why not just shoot when, where, and how you are supposed to and skip this vengeance bullshit?^this. well other than my dogs. but that's no excuse for the robber. don't give a shit about him either.[Edited on September 30, 2013 at 2:19 PM. 9/30/2013 7:47:56 PM
good, fuck thievesunless he was stealing the beer to feed his starving family
9/30/2013 7:50:46 PM
^ is this a rare BigMan troll, or are you really pleased with a guy being shot to death because he stole a 12 pack of beer?
10/2/2013 11:36:26 AM
So the guy just walked out without paying and thats it?No confrontation or anything? Just snuck out?
10/2/2013 11:53:43 AM
I would've fired at least 5-6 shotsinto the 12 pack...hopefully would've hit at least 9-10 beersreally made the motherfucker work for his 2 beers he finally got to drink
10/2/2013 11:59:20 AM
i do find it interesting how some people are fine with using deadly force in defense of property. we have (rightfully in my mind) decided that human life is never more valuable than property, and so it is not acceptable to use deadly force in defense of property. it really is no different than saying the appropriate punishment for theft is the death penalty. i think the absurdity of killing a thief or other criminal in mid act becomes obvious if you arrested the same guy for stealing beer and then said he deserved to be executed as a punishment. it's very les miserables.
10/2/2013 11:59:28 AM
last time I checked, it was life, liberty, and property. beer is property. the guy has it coming, fuck thieves
10/2/2013 11:59:32 AM
beer is arguably all three
10/2/2013 12:02:06 PM
good point
10/2/2013 12:04:07 PM
you forgot pursuit of happiness. extremist.
10/2/2013 12:07:32 PM
Don't all stores carry some level of insurance that covers simple theft? Ridiculous to kill someone for stealing a 12-pack.
10/2/2013 12:14:29 PM
^^^^What if your survival depends on the property that is being stolen? Obviously that isn't the case here, but it is a rhetorical question worth debating.
10/2/2013 12:14:58 PM
that would certainly make it more justified. but this was over $10.
10/2/2013 12:17:04 PM
shouldve stolen the beer from Walmart or some evil megacorporationnot some small business
10/2/2013 12:22:46 PM
maybe he intended for his pregnant wife to consume the beer and therefore the store owner was protecting the welfare of a child
10/2/2013 12:30:05 PM
maybe that baby would be the next hitler unless he gets fetal alcohol syndrome
10/2/2013 12:32:23 PM
Maybe Hitler had fetal alcohol syndrome?
10/2/2013 12:54:02 PM
Maybe you don't know what anybody is going to do when you steal from them. Maybe you should think about that before you steal shit. A healthy fear among criminals isn't entirely a bad thing.
10/2/2013 1:00:55 PM
But who watches The Watchmen?

^^haha, yeah...
10/3/2013 2:00:12 AM
perhaps the man stealing the beer was wearing a hoodie... OH SNAP! Too soon?
10/3/2013 4:14:33 AM
This is why the world is fucked up. Person A does something to make person B upset. Person B shoots person A. Maybe people speeding really makes person B angry. Does he have a right to go murder them? It could affect his life in the form of an accident. So why not nip it in the bud?We really are abunch of animals.

^ who are you to tell someone what they think does or does not infringe on their rights as an American? Also it's an anology to show how retarded this all is.
10/3/2013 9:56:07 PM
It really is a turrible analogy. And I don't know WTF you're talking about with this "does or does not infringe on their rights as an American"
10/3/2013 10:03:10 PM
I am surprised he was charged, you have the right to defend your property with deadly force in Texas. While this case is a bit different, I am all for killing someone for robbing you, those people are absolute scum and the world would be better off without them.
10/3/2013 10:03:40 PM
THe thief did not break and enter the guy's house. It was a store and it could have been a misunderstanding. Sounds like manslaughter
10/3/2013 10:15:35 PM
i've never heard of it being legal to defend property with deadly force. there are castle doctrine laws that say you can kill anyone in your home, but that is legal under a different premise than the one here.for a really fucked up case, see People v. Du, about a Korean store owner who shot a girl in the head over some orange juice and after conviction served no time.http://www.casebriefs.com/blog/law/criminal-law/criminal-law-keyed-to-dressler/principles-of-punishment/people-v-du/
