Just moved back, what's the pizza landscape like here since 2007?
9/20/2013 12:42:57 PM
It's all shit. Go back to NYC.
9/20/2013 12:44:03 PM
there is a little local place run by an old Italian guy named CiCi that makes some pretty awesome authentic macaroni and cheese pizza
9/20/2013 12:47:50 PM
Mellow Mushroom's Red Skin Potato Pie
9/20/2013 12:48:56 PM
In all serious though, I like Capital Creations
9/20/2013 12:50:17 PM

9/20/2013 12:55:15 PM

9/20/2013 12:55:48 PM

9/20/2013 1:10:30 PM
the small pizza can feed two people easily if you make a salad with it
9/20/2013 1:14:11 PM
9/20/2013 1:15:24 PM
I enjoy the pizza at Trophy Brewing.
9/20/2013 1:55:48 PM
What part of town are you interested in?Who has tried the pizza at Jimmy V's Osteria?
9/20/2013 2:01:44 PM
Little Caesars on E Chatham St
9/20/2013 2:12:02 PM
Despite the fact I know there are "better" pizzas out there, I'm consistently made happy but Ruckus other than the fact they grossly overcharge for toppings.
9/20/2013 2:13:21 PM
MV ruckus has a good standard new york style, the point has a great sicilian, lily's is pretty good with meet toppings, but avoid going for too many. frank's on new bern is the only place i'd recommend for just about any type besides ny style and the only place that can seem to make a pie with lots of toppings come out well. the best chain is easily little caesars. the best super cheap non-chain i'd had was mega-bite pizza if that still exists, but most of the time I ate ruckus it was $10 for an 18" and that's pretty cheap. the worst are ci-ci's, dominos, and other usual offenders

9/20/2013 3:01:39 PM
^mon/tues $10 before 9pm special is gone?
9/20/2013 3:04:31 PM
^ probably not. i was referring to the menu price
9/20/2013 3:08:02 PM
oh great, a pizza thread! thank god! we haven't had any pizza discussions on here before so i wasn't sure where to go.

9/20/2013 3:53:02 PM
Trophy- absolutely nope
9/20/2013 3:53:56 PM
Terrible phone typing/autocorrect aside , toppings at Ruckus if you are making your own pie are $1.50 apiece on the 14' and $2.00 apiece on an 18'.I'm just saying if you want something that isn't just say a pepperoni pizza it can get a bit pricey.
9/20/2013 4:09:21 PM
You gotta get the right stuff at Trophy. Manchego & kale.
9/20/2013 4:20:16 PM
I eat a lot of Ruckus, but Amedeos also has excellent pizza.

I like Johnny's pizza in Apex. Don't think they deliver out to Raleigh though. Just Apex, Cary, and Morrisville

^Amores pizza is garbage
9/21/2013 5:03:18 PM
9/21/2013 5:03:49 PM
Amores was always my favorite...too bad they sucked at running a business [/speculation]^ That dude was super nice but I didn't like his pizza as muchFor delivery, the Jets 8 corner/deep dish is pretty damn good[Edited on September 21, 2013 at 5:18 PM. Maybe I was thinking of Amore's not Amedeo's.
9/21/2013 5:18:29 PM
Sylvia's was my favorite lunch place when I was at State, at there once a week at least.
9/21/2013 5:54:37 PM
Amores is gone? They had great pizza but that lady was hilariously mean looking. Sad
9/22/2013 8:33:45 AM
lilly's in five points has some great pizza
9/22/2013 10:21:06 AM
Lilly's with fresh mozz is really the only show in town.
9/22/2013 10:37:48 AM

9/22/2013 4:15:02 PM
9/22/2013 4:15:05 PM
its been at least 2 years, right?
9/22/2013 5:08:09 PM
There's a Chicago style place in morrisville that's solid. Name escapes me.
9/22/2013 7:09:26 PM
^^^ seems like it's been even [way] longer that that.
9/22/2013 7:13:12 PM
gotta be at least three years since amore shut
9/23/2013 2:09:36 AM
Hell it shut down like what, 5-6+ years ago for a remodel, then was closed forever, then opened for what seemed like a pretty brief period, before finally closing its doors...message_search.aspx?type=topic&searchstring=amore
9/23/2013 10:07:34 AM
Yeah, maybe. The owner of Amore's had an offer to sell back in 2009. Two guys wanted to buy it and were under contract. They had a week to back out and they backed out on the last day.I had my 25th birthday party at Amores. The owner shut down the restaurant for the night for my party. My brother used to spin at Amores and bartend there too. I don't even know if they ever finished that mural outside.I want to know what happened to their custom fish tank. I loved that thing so much. I wonder if its still in there. Adam Peele designed the fish tank for them and did the bar design as well [Edited on September 23, 2013 at 10:10 AM. Reason : d]

Amore's was shit. Bad crust, burnt cheese, mediocre prices. Of course, any pizza place beside a college campus not called PizzAmerica is going to survive a couple years and fail, but whatever. It cycles as students come in and eventually leave.I've never had a Chicago style anywhere around here and would be interested in this one in Morrisville.Mellow Mushroom has good crust. It's not worth waiting in line an hour for. Now, LITTLE CAESAR'S...

You do, in fact, have to wait for seating. Unless they've found a way to generate infinite seating in another plane.
