Cysco 8640 HDC

Just looking for a project, something to do. Have this never used cable box that is in the setup phase where APP and A109 are flashing on the screen alternating. What I want to do is flash something on it where I can basically just use it as a media player and put media on it to play right to a tv. Is this possible?

looks just like a scientific atlanta 8300hd, but cisco bought them out so it's probably very similar. take the hard drive out and see what's on it

Has anyone heard of one these things being turned into a like a media player? I would love to just be able to load the hard drive with mixed media and just have it on a tv.
