Of your four biological grandparents, I mean. Not including step grandparents and all that jazz.

My fourth one just died this week, so I guess there's only one generation between me and DEATH now.

Just curious how common it is to be only 30 and have all of them dead.

Grandmothers on both sides

One has no idea who/where she is.

She's the one that pretty much raised me.

Both my grandmas are still alive.

Papa died about ten years ago of lung cancer, but she was Granny's second husband. Her first died in a fire at work when my dad was 15.

Grandpa died when I was 2 or 3.

My great-grandmother and great-grandfather on my dad's dad's side are still alive. My paternal grandmother and grandfather are both still alive. My maternal grandmother is alive and doing well, my maternal grandfather died when my mom was 3.

Teenage pregnancy FTW

One. Grandfather on my dad's side. I am 26 now and there is little doubt he will have passed by the time I am 30.

All four of mine are alive and in their upper 80s. I'm 30.

Only my husband's maternal grandmother is alive--she's 75? He'll be 33 soon.

0. I only really knew one to begin with and she died when I was 20. One died when my mom was 6. One died before I was born. One died when I was about 7. I did have 2 awesome step-grandparents that I was close to but one died when I was about 13, the other died when I was 18.

Dad's mom. Lives in Las Vegas.

I had 3 grandparents and 1 stepgrandfather. My mom never knew who her father was (the douche walked out on my grandmother when she got pregnant). So stepgrandfather was the first to pass away in 2005. My mom's mom passed away in July 2008. My dad's father passed away in September 2009. My dad's mom is still living but has diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. And my dad and her are not speaking (Japanese people can hold grudges like nobody else)

So I guess it's not that uncommon. It's way more uncommon to have all four alive, it seems.

I always feel weird about having all four alive

especially because, as an adult, it's sadder knowing I'll have to go to four funerals at some point here

My last one died when I was in 7th grade, so I missed out on a lot. On the other hand, I think it would be harder to lose them later after I had more time to know them and to make more memories.

All biological grandparents are dead. Step-grandmother is still going but we aren't particularly close as a family.

2, although it was 3 until just a couple of months ago.

I've known the great majority of my great-grandparents, too. If I don't die in a fiery crash of some sort, I'll probably live to be 100.

Grandpa 1: 1983
Grandpa 2: 1984
Grandma 1: 2000
Grandma 2: 2011 at the age of 91

My husband has just 1 grandmother living in her mid-90s.

Btw... our parents were 39/40 when we were born so our grandparents were rather older than some of our peers.

Last biological one died at the ripe old age of 99 a few months ago..although I'm sure I've got a few step/ex-step grandparents floating around somewhere.

^ Grandma must have raided the cradle back in the 30's.

I got 1 Grandma left.

Grandpa Mom's side died heart attack in 93' at 67 years old (never drank, lived healthy lifestyle as farmer, blah blah). Oddly his parents lived to be in their 90's. Great Grandpa Authur apparently only ate red meat and potatoes, smoked, and drank....

Grandma Mom's side passed 2012.

Grandpa Dad's side never recovered from a broken hip and died of complications in 2010.
