sounds like it. which is a smart decision.
7/9/2013 8:00:40 AM
Why not? Its a good brand name and it would take a shit-ton of money to convert all of them to Krogers.
7/9/2013 8:02:28 AM
I have not been inside a Kroger in a long, long time. They used to be on Food Lion's level of eye appeal, just a generic low end grocer. But i think they've done a lot over the last decade to change their image haven't they?
7/9/2013 8:07:20 AM
yeah, Kroger is a lot nicer than it used to be. I was in one a couple weeks ago and was surprised with how big they are. There was a whole section in the middle of the store for housewares. Its almost like Kroger is a middle ground between a Super Target and Harris TeeterOh yeah and there was a chinese restaurant inside of the Kroger
7/9/2013 8:13:07 AM
it amazes me that Kroger has more money than Harris teeter. I think they aren't any Krogers in Charlotte. I could be wrongHarris teeter always pissed me off how high their prices were. Feel like I'm bamboozled
7/9/2013 8:17:09 AM
You gotta clip the coupons, man!
7/9/2013 8:27:06 AM
Carlie C's, you next
7/9/2013 8:29:08 AM
Ugh this sucks. The only Krogers near me are the ones in Garner on 70 and the on Six Forks in Raleigh. And they both are dirty and look outdated.Coincidentally the Carlie C's nearby is nicer.[Edited on July 9, 2013 at 8:33 AM. Reason : k]
7/9/2013 8:32:38 AM
i wouldn't worry about it until that actually change something
7/9/2013 8:33:28 AM
^^^^^ Harris teeter is a small regional grocery chain, 212 stores is nothing. Kroger has 3,500+ stores[Edited on July 9, 2013 at 8:35 AM. Reason : .]
7/9/2013 8:34:07 AM
You guys realize they aren't actually changing anything right now...right?
7/9/2013 8:35:05 AM
IGA ftw
7/9/2013 8:35:56 AM
^^^ I know. Harris Teeter has this region on lock. Harris teeter took over the Lowes Food in my parents neighborhood. Harris teeter is doing the damn thing in charlotte .when I came to durham I was horrified to see one.[Edited on July 9, 2013 at 8:37 AM. Reason : dd]
7/9/2013 8:37:44 AM
two thoughts:Harris Teeter's milk is cheaper than Food LionKroger's reputation in the majority of North Carolina is shitty.
7/9/2013 8:45:10 AM
I been knew this was gonna happen, I avoided their stock because of this. Some company from overseas (I think from Sweden) was the first serious potential buyer a few months ago.

Publix is coming to Charlotte in the next 6 months, so HT was going to get hit pretty hard either way.
7/9/2013 9:32:43 AM
i wish there were a kroger near me...instead, the nearest is a crappy food dog
7/9/2013 9:33:19 AM
^^^ exactly... I think I have been in maybe 4-5 HTs in my life, but I have been in a LOT of Krogers (bada ching). Seriously though, never heard of HT before I moved to Raleigh (they are the NC State of grocery stores one could say), but Kroger is everywhere (in the SEC).and yes, Publix is who Kroger needs to worry about[Edited on July 9, 2013 at 9:51 AM. Reason : d]
7/9/2013 9:49:26 AM
Not the biggest fan of Publix...they have a really random selection of produce and their prices are higher than HT. Harris Teeter is really nice down here in Charleston. I usually get my grocery shopping done with a combo of HT and Trader Joe's.
7/9/2013 9:54:04 AM
the cool thing about Publix in Atlanta is that they have totally embraced the really dense, urban areas and arent just like "rawr, we need our sea of parking!!" I have one two blocks away that is the bottom floor of a condo building and right next to MARTA. You could drive right by it and have no idea that you just passed a full sized grocery store.

7/9/2013 10:00:00 AM
There's a Teeter across the street from a Kroger next to my house. Should be interesting. I really hope Kroger doesn't screw this up. Reminds me of the Kmart/Sears thing and now Sears is shitty.
7/9/2013 10:02:57 AM
i rarely shopped at any harris teeters. too got dang expensive for my blood.krogers are really nice now. even the one in the shitty little town i live near is 1000x nicer than food lion.but on the real, i'll always be an Ingles man.[Edited on July 9, 2013 at 10:06 AM. Reason : .]
7/9/2013 10:05:41 AM
hey look, it's Jaybee1200 posting about a very common thing like it's an Atlanta thing
7/9/2013 10:06:10 AM
srsly, we got those Publixeses in Charleston SON
7/9/2013 10:08:41 AM
7/9/2013 10:10:41 AM
I loved that CV Teeter, 3am cheesy bread and beer runs
7/9/2013 10:11:42 AM
ONE TIME IN ATLANTA THERE WAS A GROCERY STORE THAT YOU COULD HARDLY SEE
7/9/2013 10:13:25 AM
7/9/2013 10:14:18 AM
yeah the CV HT was the tits for a while for late night food runs. that and that unit used to be packed with shawtys on the reg.
7/9/2013 10:14:40 AM
^^ are you aware that literally every urban area in america has grocery stores like you described[Edited on July 9, 2013 at 10:22 AM. Reason : d]
7/9/2013 10:21:56 AM
WHOA! Every urban area literally has a MARTA???
7/9/2013 10:24:49 AM
^^ no, I figured they all ordered food from amazon. Of course... but we were talking about Kroger and Publix in particular. You people will argue anything.[Edited on July 9, 2013 at 10:28 AM. Reason : f]
7/9/2013 10:27:39 AM
Seems like the quality of Krogers varies a lot between locations. Around here, most of them are just a small step above shithole, but I've been to some in Ohio that are glorious.
7/9/2013 10:33:15 AM
yeah, noticed that too. May be because the chain itself has been around so long that you have a lot of relatively old, dumpy locations still in use.
7/9/2013 10:35:25 AM
the important question here is, how will this affect my sub points?
7/9/2013 10:36:31 AM
FWIW, Fred Meyer is a great store
7/9/2013 10:37:44 AM
Crazy...recently built grocery stores are nicer than ones that were built a long time ago.Minds blown ITT.
7/9/2013 10:49:17 AM
slow day at work I take it?
7/9/2013 10:50:22 AM
depends on lot size
So the best place to meet single people in their 30's is now the Kroger in Cameron Village?
7/9/2013 11:27:46 AM
Just wait until Wegmans gets down here.
