Has anyone explored some of the covers of music that you've heard over and over again as a kid when playing video games? Some of these bands, especially ones in a classical guitar format, have been doing some really awesome takes and interpretations of that music. This is one that's caught my attention:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuOADRtSyocWhen you get to 2:21, you'll understand...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQUdhxMQN-oA great, smooth interpretation of Sonic the Hedgehog.

I used to jam the NESkimos pretty regularly in my "youth": Now, I prefer orchestrated versions of really any video game music. A personal favorite:But for more casual listening, I jam Team Teamwork, and anything similar:]

Wow. OK, that acoustic Sonic medley in the first post is excellent.I know that this one has probably been linked to death, but it's still one of my favorites.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuxfQjJ-3DMMinibosses - Mega Man 2 mashup (definitely not acoustic).

My roommate plays bass in a local video game music cover band, they are pretty good and different from normal bands of this style, mainly cause of their jazz fusion style and emphasis on the sax. They are called Eight Bit Disaster and actually just played a show at The Maywood at the end of last month. Here are a few videos they recorded at the show. Let me know what you guys think.Dr. Mario's Chill song:A smash up of Final Fantasy VII's Under The Rotting Pizza, into Earthworm Jim's Level 5, into the Spy Hunter Theme, and ending with part of What the Heck? from Earthworm Jim:A song from Section Z (never played this game actually):
