"An emotional affair is when there's no smooching, but lots of sentiment. You're spending hours on IM with someone who's not your boyfriend, spilling your secrets to a woman who's not your wife, turning to someone else instead of your partner in times of need. Clearly not good for your primary relationship.

Oh, you mean not an affair. You don't even need to check the byline to know this article was written by a woman.

^ actually the person who identified the 4 types is a guy...

Unless Michael is a unisex name now...

I suppose the only time I had an affair, it was an object affair with work. gf started an emotional affair to compensate. bad things ensued.

^I'm a workaholic, so I guess I sort of have that one too. But I've always been a bit obsessive. Perfect attendance more years than not in school from K-grad school. On the one hand it can be good, it helped me get a 4.0 in grad school, on the other hand I can't say no work that I think is worthwhile, so I am just finishing a 72 hour work week having entirely ignored friends and family, and I tend to voluntarily take on crazy hours, probably more than is healthy.

I've never had an affair of any kind. I'm very faithful.

On the other hand, I suppose that according to the spirit if this article, I HAVE cheated, because I never share generous portions of my life with anyone. My SOs get much less of my time/trust/true thoughts than is probably the norm in a relationship. So I cheat with myself, if that makes sense.

Been in all four types.

As ive grown older and wiser though I think I prefer being single and let the women im seeing deal with the stress of the affair though.

There's downsides though. I have to do my own laundry now. But its nice not having to call them if I dont want to, not invent excuses why they cant tag along one night, not pay for as much stuff, etc.

Affairs are better when you are single and get the good without the stress and headaches. This is one of those realizations you have as you mature kinda like great ass > good tits

wtf is this nonsense? The author of this article really considers it cheating if you are spending too much time on a video games. Neglectful and not healthy for a relationship, yeah maybe, but to consider it cheating? That is absolutely ridiculous.
