This is probably #1 for me, even though its a blatant Camel rip off

This has been a Krallum presentation

Okay lets get that and Hotel California out of the way, and any Zeppelin or hendrix anyone wants to spout out. Shit i'd put Highway Star above that shit.

Those opeth dudes are wankers

Also as far as rock radio goes I'm a fan of the solo in Limelight.

These seems like the kind of topic that inevitably turns into an arguement.

I'm partial to pretty much anything Joe Walsh did with the James Gang so I'll toss in Funk #49.\\

Felt like Santana should be on page 1 as well. http://youtu.be/eaKnRUfh_5I

He had to have been the best soloist I've ever seen. Angus Young was the most entertaining.

Jesus christ santana is the worst. Angus Young isn't someone i'd consider a guitar player. Decent preformer tho

Disagree on the Santana, but yeah, Angus isn't the greatest guitar player, just a great showman.

Angus Young exists only for show. Malcolm is the important one.

Best? Probably something by Satriani or Steve Vai. Depends on how you define best. Satriani/Vai can probably outplay almost anyone speed wise and technically speaking but Satriani cant express emotion through his guitar...at least for me. Thats why my personal favorite is Gilmour.

Except for any other guitarist who played after 1980

I mean I can play this solo which is way faster and more technical than the typical things people rave over with Vai. Vai had an interesting way of playing around Flex-Able which is basically mostly ripped off rock versions of zappa ideas. Has done very little innovation since then. Vai wasn't even the best guitarist to play with zappa and that says a lot.

I tried to find a clip of the only ash remains solo because its way more insane than this one

I probably dont have the depth of knowledge as many of you, so im sure there are others out there. I do play a bit, and In my experience Satch/Vai are more complicated than many of the usual suspects always mentioned (Jimi/Vaughn/Page). Dont know a ton of guitarists...I mostly stuck with "popular" classic rock growing up, so my knowledge is limited.

At work right now, but ill check out that solo later

My personal "best solo" list would probably have a lot of Knopfler and Gilmour because I love both of their styles. I wouldnt go as far to say any of their solos are the best ever to the average person.

^It's the style for me too. No one would argue that Gilmour is the fastest or the most technically proficient, but the emotion he gets out of those well-placed notes is just amazing.

This is the winner.

It was a full band recording, but George Clinton listened to it, released Eddie was stomping everyone into the ground, and put it on the record as a 10 minute guitar solo with everyone else's track turned off.

Steve Vai is a fuckin poser w/ his hairspray, billowing shirts, and air machines. Can't stand his sound either.
