I have a car that's not worth a lot. I had it insured. Then 6 months after backing in to a BMW (who was flying through the parking lot), and putting a small dent/scratch on the fender, I traded my car in and got a truck (never fixed the damage to my own bumper). That car is no longer insured since I don't own it, and the guy I bumped in to didn't file anything until after I got rid of my car.Is my old insurance company going to cover it, even though I am no longer paying for the insurance? Is there any statue of limitations for when someone has to file a claim after a small incident like this?

why don't you call the fucking insurance company?

I'd prefer to know how it will likely play out before contacting anyone ...

If it happened during the time your coverage was effective, then your insurance company should pay.Not sure about time constraints...it's probably a while. Was there ever a police report?

Busy as hell? Can't make time for bodyshops?Boohoo? Fuck him. If he doesn't give a shit about his car, and robster doesn't, and the insurance company sure as hell doesn't...Well, maybe you should start a business where you wipe other peoples' asses if that's how you really feel?

What the hell? Really? If someone hits your car, you shouldn't be under any obligation to accommodate their timeline (within some semblance of reason--you shouldn't be able to bring up old shit 10 years later, for example)...but if it takes a few months to get around to dealing with it, that's completely reasonable in my book. The person who hit you (and by extension, their insurance company) can accommodate you--they're the party who fucked shit up and is responsible for it....and the insurance company does care (at least in the sense of business and obligation, just as much as they would care if you still had the car). They are insuring liability stemming from ownership and operation of the vehicle for a specified time period. Even if you sell the car, discontinue the policy, whatever, they are responsible for damages occurring during the insured period.[Edited on June 11, 2013 at 9:24 PM. Reason : ]

Which brings us to an earlier point:"Why don't you call the fucking insurance company?""Why don't you call a bodyshop?""Why didn't he file anything?"This is a thread about a bunch of lazy and wishy-washy fuckers.
