I drove past it earlier this week and it was normal, no signs or anything.I just past it a bit ago and the entire thing is destroyed, there's a sign that says they're hiring and it's closed for renovations.Anyone know what's up/have more details/knew about this before just now?Picture I got at the Western/Gorman stop light, I may go back for more[Edited on May 31, 2013 at 12:06 PM. Reason : slightly less massive image]
5/31/2013 12:04:05 PM

5/31/2013 12:06:07 PM

5/31/2013 12:13:26 PM
theres a sheetz right next to my office. the food is pretty badass there, and they are very sanitary
5/31/2013 12:13:56 PM
I'm moving this summer and will be 20 minutes away from the nearest Sheetz
5/31/2013 12:15:28 PM
5/31/2013 12:16:32 PM
Sheetz is amazing...if you are in the middle of no whereI'm Krallum and I approved this message./]
5/31/2013 12:17:22 PM
see raleigh people think sheetz is good food.
5/31/2013 12:17:54 PM
5/31/2013 12:20:00 PM
yeah this makes no sense. also there is a sheetz like a mile away from there, where you can actually get in and out without waiting in traffic for 8 hours.they really do need to rebuild that wendys though, and move it about 20 feet closer to gorman st. stupid fuckers always drove the wrong ways in the parking lot there.
5/31/2013 12:31:48 PM
they're not putting a sheetz there
5/31/2013 12:50:14 PM
I'd love a Sheetz drive-thru
5/31/2013 1:08:55 PM
sheetz would make a killing, but seriously, they're not putting one there
5/31/2013 1:13:24 PM
can't see anything past the dirty window
5/31/2013 1:19:46 PM
fuck i just drove by it this morning, i noticed the sign was off but i thought that was because they were rebranding with the new logo
5/31/2013 1:26:22 PM
I saw the fence up around the property on wednesday and figured they were just redoing something else on the inside since they just did a renovation a few years ago....Interesting that they'd demolish and start over. I wonder if there were major problems in/with the building/structure/etc.
5/31/2013 1:31:15 PM
its cheaper and faster to tear-down and rebuildthe most important thing about this though is it means the dude with the creepy long fingernails who would touch you when you paid for your meal is currently free to roam around. he may be right behind you right now!
5/31/2013 1:33:48 PM
^^ McDonalds has been doing a ton of this kind of work recently. They take the old location, demolish it, rebuild and reopen within about 3 months. A lot of it has to do with incorporating new technologies that would be wildly expensive to modify the existing structure over just rebuilding a new building that has the new stuff incorporated into the design. fast food architecture ftw[Edited on May 31, 2013 at 1:37 PM. Reason : ^]
5/31/2013 1:37:01 PM
^^while that may be true in some cases.... renovating then demolishing and rebuilding a few years later is not cheaper.[Edited on May 31, 2013 at 1:37 PM. Reason : ^^]
5/31/2013 1:37:06 PM
AHH HOLY SHIT HE FUCKING WAS. I DECKED HIM AND RAN. SWIPEKEY AUTOCORRECT IS THE SHY.
5/31/2013 1:37:40 PM
5/31/2013 1:38:17 PM
i'm positive it still is cheaper, otherwise they wouldn't do it
5/31/2013 1:39:01 PM
A Sheetz there, with the ghetto in the backyard, would be awful without 24 hour RPD security[Edited on May 31, 2013 at 1:40 PM. Reason : ^^OMG LOL]
5/31/2013 1:40:13 PM
What I'm saying is that it depends on the renovation - obviously this is not just a facelift renovation and something major enough was happening to warrant rebuilding to be cheaper; or maybe corporate came down and said rebuild/gave money to rebuild. It just doesn't make sense to renovate and 2 years later, demolish and rebuild is all I'm saying.
5/31/2013 1:40:31 PM
yeah they've been giving out coupons for you to use at other wendy's because of the upcoming renovations...they just demolished it today
5/31/2013 1:40:48 PM
it does make sense, or they wouldn't do itor do you think a multi-billion dollar company just makes decisions on the fly?
5/31/2013 1:41:51 PM
It makes sense to do a renovation, then 2 years later, say, aww fuck it; tear it down and start over? If they want/need renovations and it's cheaper to demolish and rebuild, then yes that makes sense. It doesn't make sense to renovate then demolish then rebuild. No, I don't think these decisions are made on the fly. But something certainly isn't totally right about this sequence of events.[Edited on May 31, 2013 at 1:47 PM. Reason : .]
5/31/2013 1:46:07 PM
if it didn't make sense, they wouldn't do it. obviously they are looking for enough of a change that the renovation cost is prohibitive or maybe even not possible at all. duh.
5/31/2013 1:47:29 PM
it may make sense now to demolish and rebuild. I'm saying something went stupid during the in-between.[Edited on May 31, 2013 at 1:48 PM. Reason : I think we are talking about 2 different things or you are that dense or trolling]
5/31/2013 1:48:09 PM
The real question: once rebuilt, will it still only have one register inside?
5/31/2013 1:48:53 PM
^^ The renovation work could of been done as a band aid until they decided to pull the trigger on a full tear down, or maybe they used the renovation as a gauge to see if they did minor improvements if sales increased as a justification to rebuild a new store.

Weren't they one of the highest grossing Wendy's in the country? I remember hearing that when I was a student (same for the Bojangle's, which I know is true, and the Applebee's, which I'm not sure).
5/31/2013 2:06:09 PM
I think the Wendy's in Morrisville (across from the new Target) is one of the busiest. They tried out breakfast there for a good year or two at that one. The breakfast was slammin.[Edited on May 31, 2013 at 2:11 PM. Reason : f]

the original egg sandwich on the fancy bread, that they had when breakfast launched, was AWESOME. it's been changed now though.
5/31/2013 2:58:21 PM
The Wendy's in Carrboro is the closest Wendy's that has breakfastHere's the menu:http://www.wendysbreakfast.com/food/
