while disturbing, can we say out of context?also, I thought this thread was about Amy's Baking Company.Because that is WTF.
5/14/2013 4:20:10 PM
that this happens so often without family members retaliating bothers me as much as the fact that it happens at all
5/14/2013 4:21:19 PM
Video is meaningless without context.
5/14/2013 4:23:23 PM
At least they got video. That camera is probably the best weapon available in a situation like that

If the cops heard yelling and had reasonable cause to suspect some sort of abuse was happening, they have every right to enter.
5/14/2013 4:26:40 PM
does anyone know the context?
5/14/2013 4:34:43 PM
from the YT description:The Backstory:Police are called out to an apartment for a noise compliant by the neighbors. The three occupants inside non-aggressively exercise their fourth amendment right, refusing the police entry as they demand at gun point to let them inside without a search warrant or probable cause.Maybe these people should go back to college and party; that's where you learn to shut and lock the door and ignore the knocking cops.[Edited on May 14, 2013 at 4:36 PM. 5/14/2013 4:36:01 PM
Yeah, what happened with the bakery? I saw that on my timeline.
5/14/2013 4:36:53 PM
It's possible that the cops couldn't hear anything the guy was saying while they were outside since we couldn't hear the cop at all through the door. Not sure about the tasing part though.
5/14/2013 4:37:05 PM
This is whats going to happen every day in NC if we don't get them republicans out of officeI'm Krallum and I approved this message.
5/14/2013 4:37:38 PM
From the youtube description, it says noise complaint. Honestly, is it that hard to open your door, go out and talk to the officer and carry on with your life. I can understand the not wanting to let an officer enter your house, but I'm 99.9% positive those officers asked them to come outside first (before the camera was turned on)
5/14/2013 4:37:47 PM
If you've done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear.

5/14/2013 4:39:38 PM
hey remember in the 80's how tasers were marketed to police stations as "The last alternative to shooting people" and people got all scared because we imagined cops shocking the piss out of us left and right without any fear of repercussion but we calmed down because someone said "there's no proof that will happen" and then police shootings fell dramatically in proportion to the number of taserings?wait, that wasn't a memory. That was a brochure fuck[Edited on May 14, 2013 at 4:42 PM. Reason : ads]
5/14/2013 4:40:36 PM
I wonder if they had guns ready when they knocked on the door? I would be so overwhelmed if there were guns brandished from the get-go.
5/14/2013 4:40:53 PM
5/14/2013 4:41:46 PM
^^a drawn weapon is essentially a part of an officers uniform nowadays
5/14/2013 4:43:18 PM
the YT description said they had guns out but holstered them when the video started
5/14/2013 4:44:54 PM
I'm pretty regularly at a house show and regularly interact with cops for noise complaints. These are my findings in business, residential neighborhoods of different income levels.1) The most common suggestion that they have for a bunch of kids in their 20's or younger who are all probably drinking is to leave.2) They will do anything in their power to gain access to the house3) They will use any excuse for being there. One time a cop showed up at 8pm and told us that we had to get everyone out of the house including the bands in 5 minutes. First we were like "Sorry the show is over, it should be quiet from now on", to which he replied "I don't care everyone needs to be gone". We laughed and said "yeah thats not going to happen"Fuck cops. More importantly fuck anyone who calls the police for a noise complaint. Maybe you should mind your business or get a hobby.I'm Krallum and I approved this message./]

Hilarious you always pretend no one's there
5/14/2013 4:49:34 PM
^this. On several occasions in college, during a party at an apartment, the cops would show up, knock on the door (we'd open it, thinking it was more guests), see cops, shut the door, lock it, turn down any loud audio and just chill for a bit. never had any problems.

We got a noise complaint ticket (Whatever it is called) on Maiden Ln for dribbling a basketball at 3 in the morning outside the house. Maiden Fucking Lane.

is this like one of those facebook posts with 500,000 views and 3000 comments where some cop is restraining a dog by putting his knee on it and everyone goes "OH MY GOD WHAT A DOUCHEBAG COP THAT DOG DIDNT DO ANYTHING FUCK COPS" ...and even though someone posts multiple times that the dog was actually attacking another dog and the cop was restraining it until he found the owner everyone ignores the comment and continues to say "OH MY GOD WHAT A DOUCHEBAG COP THAT DOG DIDNT DO ANYTHING FUCK COPS"

I'm usually all "fuck the police"but these cops likely had a reasonable suspicion that something fucked up was happening in that housecan't see that in the video

From youtube
5/14/2013 9:32:00 PM
don't be stupid and have a loud argument outside if you don't want to attract the attention of the law
5/14/2013 9:35:17 PM
I found that video fairly amusing.

So why was the Taser necessary? The dude was obviously non-violent and posed no danger to the cops or anyone else.
5/14/2013 9:59:41 PM
He started screaming when the cops placed his hand on the wife's arm (in a totally non-threatening manner that could in no way be taken as 'assault'). He's a vet, so I'm assuming he knows how to handle himself and could have easily posed a threat to the cops.

^yup in my opinion once someone even clenches their fist the fight is on...and thats any joe schmoeif its some trained military dude then he best not even raise his voicethe cops dont have to put up with that shit having to wait for some jackass meathead to throw a sporting punch before they can do anything.if youre trained they know it thats all the more reason to ensure your being even less combative than the average joe because theyre not gonna try to grapple you to the floor their gonna distance themselves from you and employ their weapons.call it less rights or whatever its the damn reality and i full support the cops having that option
