I have 4 that have been stuck in my cd changer for more than a year. Can't even remember what they are because it won't play.

I do. For years I had the same 6. I just changed those to a new usual 6 when we recently got our van (vanlife...), and I change those out to 6 of Christmas music the day after thanksgiving.

I have a Rawdog cd in my car. Basically if a band gives me a cd it stays in my car unless its amazing then I put it on my PC.

I'm Krallum and I approved this message.

I resent the implication of the OP

I mean I'm in my 20s and knew what a CD was since my pre-teen years

Yes, a mix CD left and then donated by a friend. It primarily features Akon and Justin Timberlake. I also keep a burned copy of Tina Fey's Bossy Pants.

I've got a 6 disc changer in the Subaru. Most of the CDs I have are from high school, but I still make some occasionally just in case I don't have my mp3 player some day.

lol tapes

real music connoisseurs have record players in their 1950s or 1960s era American cars

I still have about 50 CDs in my car, mainly ones that I have purchased recently. However my Kenwood Excelon KDC-X994 takes a USB thumb drive and I mainly listen to the 32GB one I have plugged in.

There's no elitism is tapes. They're just cheaper to make than CDs, which means more profit for the musician when selling a physical product at a price that someone at a show will still pay ($5).

They are, but tapes are just as cheap, and tape cases, inserts, and duplication are even cheaper.

Plus, a download card is more convenient than ripping a CD.

My gf's car only has a tape deck.

They cost about a quarter at a thrift store and are pretty durable. I'm a fan.

i would still rock tapes if my truck had a deck for it.

i just have zero use for CDs anymore. I ripped almost everything i own to my external HDD, then to my classic iPod. with that, Spotify, and SiriusXM i haven't had the need for a CD in years.

CDs have superior sound quality than mp3s. I don't listen to them often but I still do. Got 12 or so CDs in one car, zero in the other.

I'm not sure what kind of MP3s you're talking about, but if you can tell the difference between CDDA and VBR V2 (about 190kbps), you must have superhuman hearing.

I do. I have two of these things:

Both full, mostly of MP3 CDs with 5-9 albums on each disc. If I want to listen to a certain genre I find a disc that has albums from that genre and listen to a few albums before changing discs. Queuing up music on the iPod/Phone kind of sucks.

the difference is really distinct with any decent speakers or headphones. factory audio in a 96 camry may not qualify. V0 (256kbps) or 320kbps is much more difficult, but still doable in music with real fidelity and instruments (read: not pop).

I don't even have a CD or tape player in my car. Just a head unit made to control my ipod. My wife has a cassette deck and an ipod transmitter but no CD player either.

I have a case of CDs under the driver's seat, but I haven't listened to one since I got my Sirius back in 2006. Funny enough, I was wiping down my dash on Saturday and I accidentally hit the eject button on the CD player. Out popped a Dancehall Reggae mix CD with the date 10/13/2005 on it.

anyone up to date on cd player installation prices? got a quote on a $90 sony unit for my 2008 ford escape yesterday..the total w/ tax is $220. that includes the mounting kit, harness, antenna adapter and labor. i thought that was a little pricey being that the player is only $90.

mounting kit, harness, and antenna adapter cost at least $50 retail, so you're looking at $80 for labor

I would not consider that pricey

when I was prepping my car to trade-in this week, I tried to remove the CDs that were in the cd changer, un-used for 3+ years...they wouldn't eject

I wonder if they melted in there or something
