What's going to happen this season, the President is actually part of an Eastern European sleeper cell or did they already use that ridiculous premise last time around?

Glad to see it back. Hopefully they tie up some of the plot lines that are still unresolved. Never thought that movie would happen, at least this is something.

President Palmer isn't really dead. he has been undercover leading a covert Unit and returns to team up with Jack Bauer to take down a sleeper cell of hipster youths in LA. Elisha Cuthbert reprises her role. So does the Mountain Lion

That's funny, I actually just started rewatching season 1 through netflix streaming this weekend. Sounds like they are getting away from the whole events happen in real time thing though, which is what they were going to do with the movie. Don't know how a 12 episode arc will work with them skipping around to important parts of the day...

Jack Bauer is convinced that Wesley is a Romulan mole. Jack and Worf partake in a contest to see who can endure the most pain. Riker hits on Jack's daughter.

Season 1 is up there with all-time season favorites, and I've thoroughly enjoyed the show. Glad to have Jack back! If only Kim would FDT

Hahahaha

Seriously though, trimming a season of 24 down to 13 episodes might be a good thing.

I think it's 12 episodes now:

http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/05/13/official-24-returns-may-2014/

unless of course they do one of those prequel episodes they started doing towards the end.

I remember an early interview with KS after the 1st or maybe 2nd season where he said he thought the only way the show could carry on would be to switch the lead character. Said it would grow unbelievable with one guy solving multiple catastrophic events within a day. lol

stopped watching after season 6. is it worth it to go back and watch 7 or 8 before this comes back?

I skipped season 6 because I was told it was the worst season. Season's 7 and 8 were better than 6 I've heard and I liked them.

bumping this thread since apparently no one created one after the super bowl (seriously??).

Season 9 is actually called 24: Live Another Day and is 12 episodes long. Jack, Chloe, Audrey, and Senator Heller return as well as a welcomed Yvonne Strahovski.
http://www.fox.com/24-live-another-day/

I hope the 12 episode season means they'll be doing more than the usual "CTU-gets-compromised, theres-a-mole-in-the-white-house, Jack-has-to-break-someone-out-of-CTU-custody" routine.

it's premiering THIS MONDAY NIGHT with 2-episodes. i, for one, am looking forward to seeing Jack Bauer back on TV Monday nights

I'm hopeful that they don't try and continue from the timeline of where they left off in the future

Looking forward to it. I got hooked at the beginning of S5, finished the rest before S6 and then suffered through that awful season. Show definitely picked it up in S7/S8, but left it open with that Jack on the run ending and then there were all those years of movie talk. Looking forward to seeing how the show works in a tighter 12 episode format.

i'd rather have 12 episodes with a cohesive story than 24 episodes full of plot devices and double-triple-agent moles that exist only to delay the story week in and week out. and let's be real, 12 episodes is a "full season" in today's TV landscape.

Fair enough, I had been thinking back to how 24 typically solved the first initial crisis in the first 4-6 hours and the last 18-20 hours was solving the real crisis they found out about from the first part of the show.

It does look like they gave up on the future element for the time being though

I liked it overall. I agree that if the show continues after this they need to keep to the 12 episode format. Kind of crazy to think they used to have to churn out 24 of these a season. Its been a long time since I watched what are considered the top season (1-5) - may have to do a rewatch sometime this summer.

what was the future element? was there some sort of webseries or something after the season 8 finale that i never saw?

there isn't really a big "future element". There was a time jump between the penultimate and the final season of a few years and Jack has been "on the run" for about 4 years. So this story is taking place somewhere in the 2018-2020 time frame. But that really isn't a big deal considering everything is fiction.

oh was that all that was being referred to? got it. yeah they said a few times in the premiere what the timeline was. i don't think they revealed yet what exactly happened to president taylor or if logan somehow survived his suicide attempt. hopefully not, i got really tired of his character. i just went back and watched the season 8 finale to catch up before watching last night, and even that one episode was enough to remind how much i disliked logan. haha.

I was going to say the same thing someone already said. The hackers reminded me of the girl with the dragon tattoo.

Also, I predict that the President's right hand man (audrey's guy) is somehow in on it.

The blonde's husband will probably play in somehow as well.

Solid first (two) episodes IMO. Definitely looking forward to it all as long as they don't repeat a lot of plot lines (in concept) that they've worn out in the past.

^The way they focus on him, I think it would be too obvious. I think he just wants revenge against Jack for what he put Audrey through.
