does anyone else agree that sitcoms and other similarly-staged shows suffer because of HDTV?looking at the sets of "friends", "seinfeld", "the wonder years", etc, they seem much more believable than today's shows. being in HD makes them seem too polished and staged.

werent seinfeld and the wonder years shot in real apartments/restaurants/houses?but you make an interesting point

Unsure how people tolerate the Soap Opera Effect of HD. ]

the only one of those that are "believable" in any way might be the wonder years.i don't see how HD/non-HD affects this.

Seinfeld was shot on a soundstageandsounds like you have an issue with LCDTVs, not HD in general
5/1/2013 10:13:14 PM
and don't anyone dare suggest i switch to the standard definition channel.that would just be crazy.

I think people are getting confused with what constitutes High Definition vs refresh rate vs artificially interpolated images to meet a refresh rate. A TV being "HD" doesn't contribute to the "Soap Opera Effect", even on LCDs. However, certain frame-rates settings CAN do that. That has nothing to do with it being an HD TV though.Edit: Looks like at least one person has already brought this up.[Edited on May 2, 2013 at 2:32 PM. Reason : ]
