Little write up to get things started:http://davidgonos.com/fantasy/football/2013-football/fantasy-football-rookies/I like Bell, Ball and Lacy and some of the WRs... none of the QBs look like they are worth a shit to me.
5/1/2013 10:07:35 AM
I actually like franklin better than lacyBut i shouldnt be telling you this since we're in the same league
5/1/2013 11:52:07 AM
RB: I don't like Ball as much as most. Gio Bernard will be really good. WR/TE:Eifert could catch 5-6 tds.Austin will be solid, not great. Patterson will be a bust. And yeah, the qbs are super garbage.[Edited on May 1, 2013 at 11:56 AM. Reason : add another note]
5/1/2013 11:55:22 AM
Bernard will be a poor man's CJ Spiller and probably only touch the ball about 7-8 times a game
5/1/2013 11:57:35 AM
I feel like best value guys (especially in a dynasty league) are the TEs. Reed, Escobar & Kelce all go to teams w/ injured TEs & coaches known for feeding the TEs[Edited on May 1, 2013 at 12:00 PM. Reason : .]

May have a spot open in the highly coveted Masters League of Fantasy Football league now in its 11th year. Apply within.

No broke asses
6/2/2013 11:26:39 PM
Bradshaw to the Colts... interesting. Could get a LOT of short yardage TDs

any recommendations for a good place to hold a live draft in Raleigh? The place we have been using is ok, but we would prefer a private room in a bar big enough for 16 people, with a lot of outlets and wifi... any ideas?
6/16/2013 10:42:31 PM
Blinko's.
6/16/2013 10:44:58 PM
we used that for several years, but the room is kind of tight for 16
6/16/2013 10:49:41 PM
ehh, I got somewhat lucky last year but I'll post in here
6/17/2013 1:25:21 PM
My team name this year is Vicious Bubblicious and my logo is

We reserved the back room at Flying Saucer once for a draft. Plenty of room. Went well.
7/3/2013 10:49:53 AM
good idea... will see if they are free.Wasnt too loud back there? That whole place kind of echoes. I cant remember if that area has doors or not.
7/3/2013 11:47:23 AM
We had it around lunch time. Wasn't busy enough to be loud.

I wouldnt draft those 3 guys
7/3/2013 2:06:34 PM
Not big on Floyd, but MJD would be a solid #2RB
7/3/2013 3:57:47 PM
that's twice i clicked on a b/r article today. i'm mad at myself.
7/3/2013 4:10:22 PM
Tyler's tap room in apex was good when we had it.
7/4/2013 8:00:22 PM
They have a separate room?
7/4/2013 9:54:24 PM
We have several more spots open in our league (due to a couple guys getting married and saying they can't afford to play)...its a $25 entry fee, 12-team cbs sports league (which entails 6 pts per pass TD). Otherwise its just a generic league. So if anyone is looking for a easy going league with a little prize money, PM me for the league info. Draft date will be determined once league is full.
7/5/2013 6:41:05 AM
I am so pumped for this season, cant wait to defend my title. Have all my gear ready to go.

No Panthro thread yet, so I'll ask here since I got a random trade offer out of the blue today in a dynasty leagueThe league has .5 PPR, flex spot, 2 QBs & 2 D/STs (with high scoring for good Ds)Was offered Gronk, Newton & PIT D/STforPitta, Romo, SD D/ST & BoweHe has RG3 & SF as his other QB & D/ST. He has Owen Daniels at TE as well & he clearly wants another WRI'm loaded at WR & have Peyton as my other QB. Pitta is my lone TE (dude was annoyingly hit or miss each week), so it feels like this is a no-brainer to meAm I missing something?
7/12/2013 5:27:47 PM
if you do that trade you're going to need a tight end for the first couple weeks or however long Gronk doesn't play]
7/12/2013 5:32:11 PM
Yeh, I'm cool with finding a placeholder like Martellus Bennett or someone like that
7/12/2013 5:33:33 PM
Gronk will disappoint this year without Hernandez. He's really just a glorified Pete Metzelaars.

Pitta is out for the year now as well. Tough day.
7/27/2013 8:35:31 PM
ugh why must my stupid friend want to always draft so early (Aug. 3). I want to at least have a couple preseason games before we draft. No so much to evaluate talent but I just want to get through as many injuries as possible first.
7/29/2013 10:05:19 AM
early drafting sucksSome helpful hints from Jaybee1200, the greatest commish ever, to help make your league even more fun!!- do a lottery. In most leagues, spots 1-3 or 1-4 get money. To keep interest in lower level players have everyone in the league split one buy in (so if your entry fee is $100 and you have 14 players then everyone would pay an extra $7). Then, at the end of the year, spots 5-14 have a chance to win back their entrance fee. The person in 5th place has the best chance of winning, 6th place has the next best, and so on. So there is an advantage to finishing 6th vs finishing 12th.- 200 point club (or whatever an exceptional score is in your league). We have everyone throw in $1 a week. If anyone scores over 200 points that week they get the pot. If no one does, then it carries over to the next week and so on. So, in a 14 team league, if no one does it for 8 weeks, then the pot would be $112 if someone did it in week 8.- increase defensive scoring. In default league scoring systems, defenses are an afterthought, on par with kickers. This means that 1/2 of the NFL game is basically ignored (or 1/3 if you count special teams). We bumped up defense a ton in our league. For example, a shutout, which basically never happens in the NFL is worth 40pts. That's a lot, but, think about real football, if your defense literally allows ZERO points, you should win 95% of the games probably... but as I stated, shutouts are rare. In our league a good defense typically scores 20-30 points. This is still about equal to maybe two offensive player in fantasy terms, so you still have one fantasy position (the defense) representing HALF the game, and only equal to two offensive fantasy positions, so its still an offensive orientated game, but you at least have to keep track of defense and think about who you use.[Edited on July 29, 2013 at 12:27 PM. I can keep Dez Bryant and give up a 3rd round pick in a 10 deep league, should I?
7/30/2013 8:23:52 PM
Where in the third is the pick? PPR?
7/30/2013 11:52:12 PM
So Harvin is already facing the potential of surgery and missing most of the season...or playing through it and being less effectiveI mean, he's been injured off and on his whole pro career, so its not a shock...but just reaffirms never drafting him high in fantasy football if you want a player who can help you for 17 weeks
7/31/2013 12:32:27 AM
ok, so now Harvin is going to have surgery on Thursday...lol at trading a 1st and 3rd round pick for a guy who probably wont be back until after Thanksgivingguess it'll be an excuse for RW's sophomore slumpat least the Big Ten QB will be on the field, unlike the brittle SEC WR
7/31/2013 1:11:40 AM
^^^mid 3rd round, 25th overall pick, not a PPR league[Edited on July 31, 2013 at 9:16 PM. Reason : .]
7/31/2013 9:15:03 PM
I would definitely keep him. If PPR then maybe not because more WRs would be close to him, but in non PPR he could be the #2 WR
7/31/2013 11:10:27 PM
Yeah Dez should go ballistic this year.
7/31/2013 11:15:53 PM
anybody want to play/ has open spots in a league?I know ActionPants and I are both looking for a league.
8/2/2013 12:37:13 PM
Whose team can I join?
8/2/2013 12:51:01 PM
you should probably join your team
8/2/2013 1:58:10 PM
I see people/experts are jumping on the Tavon Austin & Golden Tate bandwagons already. Only a matter of time before they aren't worth their value. Also, I've participated in a few mock drafts already testing out my #11 overall position in one of my PPR leagues. So far, each draft has been VERY RB heavy in the first few rounds. At my spot, I was considering a RB/WR combo in the 1st two rounds, but I'm not so sure now. I'm thinking my early strategy is to get Megatron IF he falls that far. If not, then just take a shot at the best two RBs I can get. Problem is after the top 9 RBs, I'm not totally in love with any that are usually left (Jackson, Forte, CJ2K, Ridley, MJD). Thought about going Morris/Ridley or reaching further for Murray and/or Bush, but it's still early.WR is still pretty deep, like QBs. TE has a huge drop off after Graham (and Gronk), so I'll probably just wait on TEs.
