I'm not sure which show makes more sense to be on Comedy Central. Jon Stewart is a pretty funny dude, but smart money says the real comedic geniuses are working at Fox News (buried deep inside the subconsciouses of the Fox anchors)."

I don't know how some of these people say some of the things they do, it's almost like they have no common sense..

[Edited on April 28, 2013 at 10:25 PM. Reason : but Ann Coulter's line about the hijab has had my jimmies significantly rustled lately.]

"Wednesday in Syracuse, she said the quote has not been taken out of context.

“But it was a joke,” she said.

Coulter said Hannity asked whether she thought anyone else in the family was involved or knew about the bombing. The real answer, she said, is that she didn’t know. So she transitioned Hannity’s question into the issue she wanted to discuss: immigration.
Still, she made no apologies."

Stewart's shenanigans are cheeky and fun. Coulter's shenanigans are cruel and tragic.

Why would you assume that? I am not going to try to deny her the right to out herself as a retard if that's what you are saying.

[Edited on April 29, 2013 at 12:38 AM. Reason : I don't think Jon Stewart demands that everyone say nice things about him all the time]

he certainly doesn't, and neither does ann coulter (or any other pundit for that matter)

but it's much easier for stewart to brush off criticism with comedy central as a trump card

You are correct.

It is in fact much easier to brush off criticism when your TV show is broadcast on Comedy Central as opposed to some other channel. Say, for example, Fox News.

considering the amount of political influence stewart has, i'd call it having your cake and eating it too.

the purpose of any TV station, radio station, etc is to get viewers/listeners...whether it be Fox "News" or "Comedy" Central...they're really not that different

The purpose of a "news" station should be to report news in an an unbiased manner. And the purpose of a "comedy" station should be to air comedy. That should be obvious. But yes, we know that they really only care about catering to their viewers.

says a lot about the state of actual, professional, political pundits when a comedian has acquired that much political influence.

Ann coulter and bill o'reilly say the shit they do because it makes them money by appealing to their base. There was excellent piece about bill o'reilly, Ann coulter, bill mahr on some NBC piece about how stations like Fox News and MSNBC cater to base groups to make money. They seem like decent people when they're "out of character."

They're basically like Stephen Colbert on the Colbert Report, except people take them seriously.
