I once got an ear-full from a lady who was complaining that a cop pulled her over and gave her a ticket and checked the Hispanic box when she told him she was Spanish."I'm not Hispanic! I'm Spanish! I'm FROM SPAIN!"I just wanted to scoop her some ice cream so I could go back to doing my homework in the back.[Edited on April 23, 2013 at 4:30 PM. Reason : not really about anything]

^^^^It counts as Hispanic on certain forms. I never check it, but it's on there. I think they might be trying to include people who are from Latin America but who insist on identifying themselves as primarily European (Spanish).

yeeeeeeeeeah, not for that lady

^^Of course. But certain agencies want to count white Peruvians (for example) as Hispanic. But, if those people identify as white, they often won't check Hispanic. So, in order to include those people, the forms end up going so broad that American-born white people of Spanish descent (me, for example) technically count as "Hispanic."[Edited on April 23, 2013 at 4:44 PM. The ethnic food aisle is confusingly labelled. depending on where you shop. I've just never noticed this until recently when I was at Aldis. At my usual grocery market, it's Mexican. The Chinese food aisle also has Indian, Japanese and some Thai. Why not just call it Asian? I've also seen it as Oriental.

At the HT it's "international"Although I do think they have a separate Mexican section that sells taco mix and shells.

So what's the diff between Hispanic and Latino, in particular?Seems like brazilians can have such diverse racial backgrounds that American racial terminology is completely meaningless to describe them.

What about flotillas?
