I'm a Phils fan. Getting spanked by the fucking Marlins on Sunday had me concerned. Halladay is off to an awful start.

The win at SF has made me feel a little better. Hopefully Kendrick can pull out another W tonight.

I hope Halladay pitches again, he's a great player. The Fanatic (Philly sports radio) had everyone calling in saying how selfish he was for continuing to pitch even though he knew he was hurt.

I think we'll know in a couple weeks whether they'll clean house or push forward. The Phils have a history of heating up in the warmer months, although last year it came too late.

it's a ghost town in here.

Brown is looking great and hopefully a Miami sweep will put us in second.

thank you for posting in my thread.

I mean, Pettibone was pitching. Also, we're tied for second in the division in wins so that's better than where I thought this team was headed a month ago.

At least we're surviving.

You have a point. You are surviving. The nationals are about 3-4 bad games from blowing the season. I just don't see a resurgence until the end of July at least.

Second in division, better than .500 record, and our offense is heating up.

[Edited on June 7, 2013 at 10:02 AM. Reason : and 4 games away from a wild card]

bumped this for Ragged

yeah the Phils are struggling. Hopefully we'll have a good series against Washington and the Sox but Kendrick needs to get out of this slump and Pettibone needs to keep doing what he did against the Braves.

THERE ARE STILL HOPES

Braves series was huge and so is the Washington series this week. Lee is on the trade block again according to espn. Might end up like last year and tank the team and rebuild or if the offense stays hot the pen needs some working on. Brown is really good and should bethe face of the franchise

^^nah it just means NCSU all day. think I got it from Chapelle saying ALL DAY SON or something. I was an sophomore and I'm not very creative with web handles.

I hope they don't get rid of Lee, I believe he has said he wants to retire in Philly but he does have the most value along with maybe Papelbon. Hamels has been a tremendous disappointment but finally had a decent game the other day. I wish we could dump Howard but I don't think anyone wants his contract.

The NL East is weak as hell so there is no reason for the Phils to give up yet unless they truly want to shed some salaries. The Braves lineup is full of problems and the rotation and pen are exactly scaring anyone either. Honestly as a Braves fan, I still expect the Nats to win the East and the Braves to be battling for a WC come Sept.

So old fat ass, pig nosed Ryan Howard is going to be out for 6-8 weeks? Howard is clearly not the hitter he once was, but he is still good at driving in runs so this hurts the Phils chances of making up ground in the East.

I like Brown in the 4 spot anyway.

Tonight's game is pretty big - if we win we'll be in second and right now we're 7.5 behind. Come on Lannan...

Back to under .500 ball you play. I really thought brown, revere Rollins would wake this team up. Can't believe Rollins hasn't been to an all star game since 05 either. When he gets traded away and Howard can't keep up this team is going to be in a race for the marlins last place position

Quote :
"In the middle of a second frustrating season, it's not surprising to see fingers being pointed. Most notable among them has been team general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. calling out Ryan Howard's performance, telling 94 WIP in Philadelphia in a pregame show last week that "if Howard is now relegated to being a platoon player, he's a very expensive platoon player and needs to do better … right now, he's just not doing his job."

Given Howard's .266/.319/.465 line this season with typically mediocre defense, it would take some special delusion to think that he's been doing his job, but how much blame can we really put on Howard? How much was Howard really underperforming reasonable expectations before the recent news that he'll miss six to eight weeks with a meniscus tear?"

We never should have renewed his contract - the days of the old slugger are beyond over.

We're one behind Washington and we have the Sox, Mets, Cards, Tigers and Giants. I think we could do well against the first two and last team in that group and at least get one win off the Cards. Hovering around .500 isn't ideal but it could be worse for the first half.

only 5 games behind for the wild card and half a game behind Washington for the second spot in the NL East. Won the last four series too.

Revere injured, though.

The Phillies are not in bad shape right now, but they need either the Braves or some combo of two of the top three NL Central teams to come back to them if they are going to do anything this year. They still have solid SP and Papelbon has been very good. Brown is a stud and Utley has played well.

The Braves have real issues if some of these injuries are serious as the lineup already had numerous holes and the SP is hit and miss

Looks like we might actually be buying some guys. A lot of discussion on trading away Young. The pitching staff is looking pretty good with Pettibone stepping up and Kendrick getting back into a groove. We could use another bat, especially with Revere and Howard out.

Lee is your only chance in making a run for the division. A wild card at this point is a joke for anyone in the division. Trade him now for some hitting

I don't see it happening. I'd rather see Papelbon go before Lee. Young is definitely on the chopping block and I think Ruiz would be good to move also.

just when there's a flicker of hope, reality comes crashing in. injuries abound. Papelbon bitching too, he should be the first one we get rid of.

^^ha, I was there last night. The only highlight were the alumni players. After the first half of the first inning my dad and I looked at each and I was like, yep, it's going to be one of those games....

we had fun though
