I was browsing around and happened to see a page talking about Key Haven. Anyone ever been out there before? Is it worth the drive/ $35 key charge? I know its primitive, but how are the facilities that are there? Seems like it could be a good place to go camping, and its nice it has a boat ramp. From the website:http://www.tx.ncsu.edu/organizations/keyhaven/

I heard good things from a guy I used to work with that took his kids up there once or twice a year. I remember him saying it was clean, relatively quiet, and his kids always had fun.

Didn't know that NCSU and UNC both have 40-acre primitive campsites at Kerr Lake. Unfortunately it would cost me $150/year for myself and additional $60/year for my family instead of $30 for a key. Also its like a mile from the VA border, so its another 20 minutes of driving. It does have a daily use fee instead of a permit, but that still comes out to $20/day. Might try going out there sometime this year.

When they say boating, would that include a jet ski?

im sure it would. It doesnt say anything about limitations on what you can put in, and Jet-skis are allowed at Kerr Lake, so you should be good to go.

wow, I grew up camping at Nutbush and drove by that place on the boat a thousand times. Never knew what it was. It is a relatively small peninsula.
