I got good money on the Astros not finishing last in the NL central and right now they lead the AL west this is gonna be a good one..Pitchers/catches report in 6 daysDid I mention this is my grand father
2/5/2013 10:13:59 PM
I'm an avid Cub fan/Card hater, but it still sucks about Carpenter. Guy had a legit shot at the HOF if not for his recent injury woes. Sox are actually tolerable with Ventura at the helm. Who finishes dead last in the NL? Mets or Cubs?
2/5/2013 10:28:10 PM
The razordiamondbacks. Or whatever they are called
2/5/2013 10:33:35 PM
iop1looking forward to this season!
2/5/2013 10:56:05 PM
Who is the transvestite holding up McKeon in that picture? Also go Braves, fuck the Phils and Nats. Should be a good year across the board as all divisions should have competitive races. New wild card format still sucks...
2/6/2013 7:35:54 AM
Go Angels! Also, one of the "moneyball" data analysis guys for the Astros lives in my building. Hung a tv for him and his wife and he let me hold his World Series ring from his time At the cardinals... Pretty neat.

Lol you must be talking about that fag Ozzie [Edited on February 6, 2013 at 10:43 PM. Reason : Lol]
2/6/2013 10:42:20 PM
^ Just realized Ozzie was even in that picture. I was talking about the Beltre looking dude wearing lipstick. So who are your picks in each division? I'll make my half assed, not researched predictions:AL East - Blue JaysAL Central - TigersAL West - AngelsWildcard #1 - YanksWildcard #2 - RangersNL East - NatsposNL Central - RedsNL West - GiantsWildcard #1 - BravesWildcard #2 - CardsLame NL picks as they are the same as last years playoff teams. Lame picks overall really...

ALW - AngelsALE - RaysALC - TigersWC1 - A'sWC2 - Blue Jays/RangersNLE - NatsNLC - RedsNLW - DodgersWC1 - GiantsWC2 - Braves/CardsThen again I haven't really seen rosters except the Braves and Nats. I think the Yankees could be really bad. Them and Boston as bottom dwellers in the east[Edited on February 7, 2013 at 8:09 AM. Reason : Angles]
2/7/2013 8:08:53 AM
Better predictions will come after spring training and looking at rosters other than Atlanta, Washington, and Baltimore's, but half-assed prediction are always fun. AL East: Blue JaysAL Central: TigersAL West: AngelsAL WC1: RangersAL WC2: OriolesAL DFL: Astros. If anyone is within 5 games of them, they need to join Houston in going to AAA. New unis are cool tho.NL East: NationalsNL Central: RedlegsNL West: DodgersNL WC1: CardinalsNL WC2: GiantsNL DFL: Rockies. Cubs might give it a go without getting to play the 'stros 18x a year.I think the NL West is going to be sneaky good this year. Padres had a pretty good record in the second half last year -- really good for them, actually -- and Colorado has CarGo and Tulo. Should be fun to watch. Love having baseball on at 11pm on a random weeknight to stay up watching.
2/7/2013 8:52:06 AM
Blue Jays will NOT win AL East.Mark Beurhle my words.

i'm ready for a return of Ernie
2/7/2013 11:10:17 AM
I forgot all about the Dodgers and their insane spending frenzy. I'd put them in over the Braves or Cards for at least a WC spot assuming they stay reasonably healthy this year. Orioles are not making the playoffs this year and I think the Rays will fizzle out as the Yanks do whatever it takes to make the postseason. Blue Jays have no excuses this year.

Future hall of famer

Don't know how to post pictures.. but the line for single-game tickets outside Marlins stadium is ridiculous. 30 minutes until they go on sale.. four people in line. [Edited on February 9, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Reason : ]
2/9/2013 9:58:18 AM
^Those are a quality four fans though.
2/9/2013 11:14:47 AM
is that even a thing in 2013? I suppose if they're only selling them in person it is. but if not???

So did Felix get his $texas or what. Seattle is fucking crazy to give him a contract at that sum. Maybe 3 years at $25M, but 7 fucking years for a fat guy that may have elbow problems. LOL sounds like a Yankees deal.
2/11/2013 4:03:14 PM
With MLB implementing blood testing for PED it'll be interesting to see what kind of power drop off there is across the league and how many guys get popped.
2/11/2013 5:26:25 PM
Michael Bourn is a Cleveland Indian!!
2/11/2013 8:56:25 PM
hahaha the indians gave ~92mil to michael bourn and nick swisherAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAbourn is 2 years from being a juan pierre that strikes out a lot
2/12/2013 12:09:22 AM
I like Bourn at the top of that lineup. Tribe's got a real shot in the Central.
2/12/2013 12:10:58 AM
I agree, they have a real shot at 3rd placethe indians give up their first round pick as well[Edited on February 12, 2013 at 12:13 AM. Reason : .]
2/12/2013 12:11:36 AM
no, no they didnt. they gave up their "competitive balance" pick, which is somewhere around pick #69
2/12/2013 7:57:20 AM
These salaries are beyond out of control when Dexter Fowler gets 2 years/$11.6 million.
2/12/2013 10:24:35 AM
Have the Braves won the World Series yet?
2/12/2013 10:48:25 AM
^^^^^ Let's go Windians!
2/18/2013 2:46:42 PM
Yeah pretty much all MLB salaries are out of control, but Fowler did have a decent stretch of 50 games or so where he was lighting it up. Still can't believe Fat Felix got a deal worth nearly $200 large. WTF??LOL too at the projections for the Astros this year. Pretty much every model has them losing at least 105 games. They are the Charlotte Bobcats of baseball.
2/18/2013 3:57:29 PM
Kershaw will actually get 200milwhy so surprised Felix got 7/175?
2/18/2013 8:27:22 PM
Verlander is a lock for 200mm
2/18/2013 8:39:44 PM
I just think the Mariners overpaid for Felix. Granted that is the norm and even less established pitchers like Grienke are making $texas too. Felix is 27, is out of shape, and now may have elbow issues. Just too risky in my opinion for a huge long term contract. If the Tigers pony up $200 M over say 7 years for Verlander, they'll likely be regretting it once he hits 35 or so. He's 30 now and has been unbelievable the past two seasons, but still age catches up to everyone and he has logged an ass of innings. As for Kershaw, he's probably the pitcher most worthy of a fat contract like that since he's only 25 and has already put up seasons on par with Verlander and Felix.[Edited on February 19, 2013 at 11:20 AM. 2/19/2013 11:17:10 AM
Felix's fastball velocity has also dropped in each of the last five years. That's a pretty telling sign. http://www.fangraphs.com/pitchfxo.aspx?playerid=4772&position=P&pitch=FA
2/19/2013 12:36:16 PM
^ read something about that the other day. They say its a good sign because he has more control over his other pitches. Do what you want with that, but I don't think he was worth the money.
2/19/2013 5:16:02 PM
lincecum's velocity has dropped over the past few seasons and it definitely allowed him to improve as a pitcher
2/19/2013 5:48:27 PM
Swisher is best fit for a softball team. He can hit the ball 315 ft and is going to have a few bobbles in the outfield.
2/20/2013 11:16:44 PM
29 more days. That's more days than marlin fans
3/3/2013 12:13:08 AM
Going to Washington April 13 to see Nats/Braves with a bunch of friends. First game in at Washington so it should be fun.
3/3/2013 12:34:27 AM
any fantasy leagues out there yet?
3/5/2013 4:34:06 PM
^I'm down if someone wants to start up a TWW league. Non-roto though as I can't stand roto leagues. I assume Trout is the consensus #1 pick this year?
3/5/2013 4:44:33 PM
Trout-Braun-Miggy are no doubt top 3. I'd prefer the latter two, since they're more safe bets and Trout is likely headed for some regression.
3/5/2013 4:47:37 PM
I've joined two Yahoo leagues already. First year doing auction style draft, and I'm hooked.I'd be down for a TWW league
3/5/2013 6:38:18 PM

I'm down for a tww fantasy league. Don't care about the format.
3/6/2013 8:07:03 PM
I'll start a league, any draft preferences? I like auction now, but I'll do a snake if it's better for everyone.i also like h2h... but again I'll do whateverand should we start a new thread so we don't bungle up the thread about REAL baseball? lol[Edited on March 6, 2013 at 8:24 PM. Reason : hmm]
3/6/2013 8:23:47 PM
anyone looking to join a keeper league? We've been going for 5 years with only 1 member change (this year). If you want to play, please be committed. The keeper rules are you can keep any player that is undrafted or drafted after round 10. From that point on you can either decide to keep that player or follow the rules mentioned above. As a new league manager, you would be allowed to select any player outside of the yahoo top 100 to be your keeper. It's a really fun league and very active. Lots of smack talk and DROD and Slave Famous are in the league along with a lot of other NCSU alums. It is H2H 8x8, live draft is sunday @5:45PM me[Edited on March 19, 2013 at 12:39 AM. Reason : v]
