iop1go pack...please 2 be better than bball/football season!
1/24/2013 1:25:19 PM
Wow #8. Maybe this NC State team will actually live up to the hype. It would be nice to achieve something in one of the big three sports. College World Series appearance by NC State would be

^Eh we would have had to win that game and another one.Danny Canela transferring hurt. He was our best bat coming back and honestly Austin was terrible behind the plate last year.
1/25/2013 10:29:41 AM
canela wasnt much better. catcher was our worst position defensively. Canelas bat will be very sorely missed thought. also its pretty weird to transfer your senior year
1/25/2013 10:32:49 AM
Brett had a good summer in the Cape Code League, so hopefully he'll produce better at the plate. Freshman catcher John Mangum had a pretty good fall, so we should have a good backup to Austin.
1/25/2013 10:35:35 AM
Canela's grades were the issue. He wouldn't have transferred if he didn't have to.
1/25/2013 12:05:51 PM
If you care about baseball or NC State's success in it, we really need to get out there and support the team. The guys (and recruits) recognize and appreciate the fan support much more than the basketball or football team does.
1/25/2013 12:09:37 PM
Not sure where to put this at, so I guess here is just as good as any. But former NC State baseball player, Andrew Taylor, is now on the LA Angels roster. He got called up for the last to series of the season last year. And he is now at spring training. Good to see some former State players in the big leagues.

^SweetI hope to make it to some games this year. I always say that though

2/14/2013 7:47:59 PM
I'll be there tomorrow. Might be at the beginning of Saturday. I hate they moved it b/c it was perfect with MBB at 2pm and baseball starting at 4pm.
2/14/2013 7:59:36 PM
Coach Doeren will throw out the first pitch.
2/15/2013 9:58:59 AM
Ill be there today. This is my favorite day of the year becasue this means the start of baseball season.
2/15/2013 10:15:35 AM
Any chance we ca get individual game threads or series thread this year?
2/15/2013 1:28:09 PM
Definitely no need for individual game threads, maybe series threads for ACC play but even then there's really not that many posts, unless we come out flying
2/15/2013 2:36:35 PM
^ Yeah I agree. No need at all unless we are really fucking good. If we make it past the regionals, then yes, individual game threads would be a good idea.
2/15/2013 3:19:16 PM
SEASON OVER
2/15/2013 4:10:28 PM
so when is rodon pitching, thats all i really care about
2/15/2013 5:49:58 PM
I see what you did there
2/15/2013 6:03:06 PM
App State
2/15/2013 6:31:39 PM
I hope Rodon doesn't have a case of the Amersons
2/15/2013 7:13:08 PM
FYI: App's pitching coach Michael Rogers pitched for us 02-04 and the hitting coach Matt Payne played for us 05-08.
2/15/2013 7:22:38 PM
When does football season start?
2/15/2013 7:24:35 PM
When do the next rankings release?
2/16/2013 12:09:23 AM
I really like watching Payne play, I was wondering what happened to him.
2/16/2013 12:59:27 AM
I mean, it just kinda sucks to have an entire season in one thread. I guess some people like it. But I kinda hate that you basically cant separate in game or game related posts from news related posts.
2/16/2013 1:33:04 AM
There's 4 games a week, that would clutter this shit up so bad. And every thread would have like a lineup, final score, and two dumbass posts that don't make sense. Also, go neers. I hope state wins every game they play, except maybe drop 2/3 this weekend
2/16/2013 8:19:10 AM
Typical NC State shit.Build up the expectations and knock them down. But it's a long season, I'm sure we will rebound and likely win the series. And in baseball winning the series is what matters, especially to the pollsters.Baseball is also about getting hot and finding a rhythm. Which can be hard to do in February. Of course, we could fall from grace like the #6 basketball ranking preseason.
2/16/2013 8:36:29 AM
So are they going to use snowballs today instead of baseballs
2/16/2013 10:03:26 AM
Game canceled. Doubleheader tomorrow starting at noon.
2/16/2013 11:36:47 AM
i went yesterday for about 30 min (walked over from work)... i can't tell you the last time i saw so many people at a game :Oalso i miss general admission on the 1st base side
2/16/2013 12:19:56 PM
Rodon's velocity was noticeably down yesterday. Obviously it's February, but it was still surprising to me. He struggled with command too.Didn't like the lineup or much of what I saw from unknown quantities. Trea Turner is still Trea Turner. Tarran Senay is going to strike out 100000 times but is going to hit 10 home runs and everyone will forget about all his K's.If this team can't hit, which is the way-too-early indication, a lot more bunting will be necessary. We didn't do it at all yesterday and idk why. Also would like to know where Brett Williams was. Ratledge looked like he might have hurt his fingers/hand on that pick-off attempt; guess he was because Berg came in at 2nd. Hope he is back soon.I would take a snow out tomorrow too. Jernigan is unpredictable and if we lose the first we are too likely to lose the third. App State is better than some want to believe. They lost their two best pitchers from last year, but they are far from bad. I wish we could have traded next weekend's series with this one.Duke beat Florida and Virginia Tech beat Kent State. The seven traditional powers/ACCT teams might have something to worry about.
2/16/2013 4:12:08 PM
Was it? What does he usually hit? I saw him get up to 94 at least, but I cant remember what he was hitting last year.
2/16/2013 8:19:12 PM
Yeah, I thought it was. He sat 92-95 last year, with an occasional 96+. Yesterday, I would say he hung around 89-91 for the most part only rarely hitting 92-94.A guy I know who would know said the gun was a little slow. I wasn't sitting behind home plate, so I couldn't creep on any guns. So maybe Los's velo wasn't off and it was just the gun. Hard to tell where I was sitting and not having seen live baseball in eight months to compare it to.Unrelated note, but it will be interesting to see how Jernigan throws tomorrow. He looked sharp for about 2 or 3 starts last year and then got wild. He was very impressive in fall camp from what I've heard. He has electric stuff if he can control it. Los gets back in form, Jernigan provides consistency, and Og brings what he has been bringing, this team is going to be tough to take 2 of 3 from assuming they can hit worth a darn, which might be a concern unfortunately.[Edited on February 16, 2013 at 9:15 PM. its just one game...relax
2/16/2013 9:17:28 PM
Only one game tomorrow starting at 1pm. App has a home game on Monday, so they have to travel back for it.
2/16/2013 10:27:13 PM
If you didn't already know, no game today.
2/17/2013 12:40:04 PM
2/17/2013 4:22:00 PM
Yeah, a tarp covers the whole field. Unless you paint a ball orange, you aint playin in it.
2/17/2013 4:29:49 PM
Aww, is the grass too wet to play on? Pussification of america ITT
2/17/2013 5:05:07 PM
I think its more of an issue of not being able to see the ball in 2 inches of snow thats the problem.
2/18/2013 8:32:52 AM
Will play Charlotte here tomorrow at 3pm per Charlotte's baseball twitter account.
