Only 43 days until the 500! I really like the look of the new bodies for this year. WTF were they thinking in 2007 with that monstrosity they used to race2007 COT:2013:

I still like the nationwide series bodies better, but the Gen 6 cars are muuuuuuch better than their previous "COT" counterparts.

we got a real battle for rookie of the year in 2013. Vs.In the blue corner, 2011 and 2012 NW series champion. In the red corner, some chick that takes purdy pictures. To her credit, she has been known to finish on the lead lap if she can catch a lucky dog or wave around.Cant wait to see how this plays out.

Someone tell me about the new sprint unlimited rules again.

Rookie of the Year has become meaningless, it's meant very little in recent Cup history as NASCAR has become early '90s CART and they can't find sponsors for drivers that aren't gimmicks (Danica), veterans with already established names, or ridebuyers. Stenhouse for all intents and purposes should've been in Cup last year but Roush couldn't find any money for him, and he's only there because Kenseth moved somewhere else.2012: Stephen Leicht2011: Andy Lally2010: Kevin Conway

^ low car count this yearit's nice Danica got pole, but me being old enough to be cynical and old enough to know the sport and how it works, Daytona is one of the two tracks that require the least amount of driver talent as it's heavily dependant on the car and engine, and Chevy decided to give her team the best engine for a free week's worth of publicity as the media get to follow her around even more; makes NASCAR happy, they'll sell more tickets and get the race even more in the national spotlight will she win? Daytona's one big crapshoot that is 70% luck, 20% car and engine, 10% driver (Dale Jr. has 9 of his 19 career wins on tracks like that ), she has as good a chance as Trevor Bayne in 2011, but the win did nothing for his career because once you put him on other tracks, he wasn't that good a driver at that point in time, which is one of the problems with Daytona and how it's just one big cluster[Edited on February 17, 2013 at 7:19 PM. 2/17/2013 7:13:05 PM
^yep, will be interesting at phoenix in 2 weeks when she is a go or go homer in qualifying unless it rains.i think it would hilarious if Jr. misses the first race after they did away with the top 35 rule. the duels on thursday should be good[Edited on February 17, 2013 at 8:46 PM. Reason : jr]
2/17/2013 8:40:02 PM
If only 45 showed up to Daytona, she may not have to worry. I think the back of the field is going to decline this year anyway leading to less genuine drivers in trouble to qualify. There is going to be so much money in her car compared to Joe Nemechek for example.[Edited on February 17, 2013 at 9:07 PM. Reason : .]

Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick win the Duels. Harvick looking to become the first person to win the Unlimited, Duel and 500 in the same year. LOL at the Harvick interview. Dude is sittin outside his motor home, feet propped up, drinkin a budweiser because theres a sign on his motor home that his baby is sleeping, so he can't go in. Good stuff

2/22/2013 5:30:36 PM
Anybody think Danica will even lead the 1st lap?
2/23/2013 1:41:50 AM
prolly not. I fully expect her to spin the tires and pile up half the field before they even cross the line
2/23/2013 1:56:22 AM
With the big motor, she should be Top 10 at least.
2/23/2013 2:28:39 AM
The qualifying was riggedYou're a big fake wrestling fan, you should know thisShe probably won't wreck until at least the 25th lap, but I'm sure Gordon will pass her and lead the 1st lap
2/23/2013 2:31:23 AM
Rigged because she has the big motor. She'll still have the big motor for the race.
2/23/2013 2:38:23 AM
she can barely crack the top-10 in the Nationwide series, not sure why you think she's going to place top-10 in the Daytona 500
2/23/2013 3:05:37 AM
Word on twitter is that she is going to start on the outside of 1st row instead of pole position.
2/23/2013 11:41:27 AM
