Eventually people will learn that publicizing == copy cats. People will stop doing it (as often) if they know their name won't go up in lights as a result.

I think the big conundrum is how to restrict their access to the rest of us.

I think I saw a science fiction movie about that once, NRR. It involved tom cruise using weird fortune tellers who could predict crime before it happened. I think there was an explosion or something....
1/10/2013 1:38:37 PM
Seriously.... Why don't they just lock up all the dangerous people BEFORE they commit crimes that victimize the rest of us?!
1/10/2013 1:43:11 PM
2 people shot at a high school in Killafornia and that qualifies as a "school shooting" now? Thats just another day on the left coast

I like the lack of media coverage on this one...
1/10/2013 5:31:28 PM
it's only because there was only one person shot and nobody killed.
1/10/2013 5:36:28 PM
plus it was a shotgun
1/10/2013 5:41:51 PM
this from the state with the most restrictive gun laws in the country
1/10/2013 5:49:24 PM
^one could argue that he would have done a lot more damage with an assualt rifle
1/10/2013 5:56:40 PM
And they would be wrong.Besides, magazines over 10 rounds have long been banned from use/ownership/possession in CA (unless you already had them before the ban)Shotguns are a devastating weapon at close range. That is why the police/military use them to shoot through bolted doors.
1/10/2013 5:58:43 PM
i didnt know that

people who argue that it'd be just as easy to kill lots of people with a shotgun vs. an assault rifle are biased and illogically arguing. the fact that a shotgun can shoot through bolted doors doesn't support your argument. if this kid came in with an assault rifle and sprayed multiple shots trying to hit this one guy, he could have easily (and even accidentally) hit others. with a shotgun, he has to load it, aim, shoot, load it again, aim, shoot....
1/10/2013 6:23:00 PM
^it's cute that you think you know what you're talking about.reloading after every shot? needing to aim?
1/10/2013 6:27:10 PM
while thinking about how cute i am, i hope you don't miss the point.

1/10/2013 6:37:16 PM
This is why we should ban guns and treat every US citizen as a criminal. The only people that can be trusted are military personal and politicians.
1/10/2013 6:40:06 PM
i think very, very, very few would make that argument. very few.

maybe birdshot? combined with the fact that the kid was 16 and probably wasn't the greatest shot (lucky for everyone involved)
1/10/2013 8:42:02 PM
I was under the impression one doesn't have to be a terribly accurate shot when using a shotgun
1/10/2013 8:45:10 PM
it is the truest "point and click" weapon, short of a blunderbuss (which is really just another form of shotgun)
1/10/2013 8:47:20 PM
^^ Ehhh...it requires significantly less precision than a rifle, but you definitely still have to aim. The shot spreads a lot less than most people think. It's not a wide cloud of death and destruction.A hit from a 12-gauge loaded with 0, 00, or 000 (or hell, even #1) buckshot would be horribly devastating at close range. It's the weapon I'd opt for in such a scenario. In fact, the weapon I purchased specifically for home defense (similar ranges to a classroom) was a 12-gauge shotgun. At across-a-classroom distances, I'd guess something on the order of 5" of dispersion, give or take a little depending on choke and maybe somewhat on barrel length.[Edited on January 10, 2013 at 8:53 PM.
