Awesome. Living in Carrboro I am right on the edge of 100.3, but it dies by the time I hit 540. Since I usually travel east to visit family, I have been stuck listening to 96.1, so this will be nice to have an alt rock option for more of my trip.
12/2/2012 7:13:24 PM
Plus with 96 sucking goat dong since their makeover 95X is a great alternative. Finally I have something to listen to on FM besides 91.5 and 88.1.
12/2/2012 7:25:06 PM
ive had hd radio for a while now and this station has been broadcast on 105.1-2 for a while now. It's pretty much the only one I listen to the few times I use my car each week.
12/2/2012 7:36:26 PM
Hahahahaha, FM radio.Satellite radio is the best thing I ever did for my daily commute.

listened for a bit today and not impressed. about 45 minutes worth of air time and the only song they played that I had never heard on 96 rock was passion pit
12/3/2012 10:55:17 PM
^^ that was what I had and was close to giving it up (especially when O&A were iffy about returning) but the new DVR receiver (Lynx) is great and I'm able to dock it in my office and get full reception too which helps.I would go crazy listening to terrestrial all day and don't want to stream using data on my phone too much.
12/4/2012 8:03:22 AM
^^so tired of that damn songSo 95.3 FM eh? I tuned in yesterday (south Raleigh) and got nothing but static. How weak is this fucking signal?
12/4/2012 8:47:08 AM
12/4/2012 8:56:19 AM
Ok checked them three times today.1 - Linkin Park2 - Gotye3 - StaindFuck them.
12/4/2012 3:29:38 PM
As long as they don't play Alanis Morrisette they will be better than 96 rock
12/4/2012 4:00:23 PM
True...not really setting the bar high there though
12/4/2012 4:17:00 PM
I kinda like that song "Hand in my Pocket". Much moreseo than anything by Linkin Park or Staind.

i call it my "madden skills challenge" station
12/5/2012 11:26:24 AM
My Integra has an admittedly weak antenna but I can't really pick up this station anywhere in South Raleigh or Cary. 90% static 10% a song I can barely make out.Ugh
12/5/2012 11:50:13 AM
My car has the same 6 cd's since 2007.I have nothing else to contribute to this thread.

When I first tuned it I must have hit a really good stretch. Every time I've tuned in since it's just been a slight notch above 96.1.Back to 99.9 and 91.5 I guess.
12/5/2012 1:29:30 PM
12/5/2012 3:58:43 PM
I turned it on a month or two ago and they were playing OMC's How Bizarre.
12/5/2012 4:42:33 PM
I worked for 96 for a while and the program director there is a tool with god awful taste in music. He's also a dick. The GM is super nice, but he lets the PD do whatever, and they are both committed to formats that do well in other markets with certain demos, but don't do very well here. Their target audience WAS blue collar males with a median income of $40k. Who knows what the hell they are going for now.I dig on 95.1 so far. They play some shit that irks me, but it's better than what we've had in Raleigh for the past 16 years, so I'll take it.
12/5/2012 4:56:50 PM
audible.com > any radio station fm/sirius/whateverthefuck
12/5/2012 5:02:15 PM
I was excited about 95.3, but it seems to play some shit I simply have never heard of and dont like. Of the approx 5 times I've had it on while working, I've heard 2-3 songs I know and then other stuff I have never heard. That being said, maybe others like it. Still not what I was hoping for though.

I only like Techno, I have no taste in music according to my Ex.
12/5/2012 6:14:58 PM
If that's true, she's right.
12/5/2012 6:44:12 PM
^^Was hoping for 90's rock. Kinda like Lithium plays on XM.I know whats on 95 is probably made in the 90's and 00's, but its just to far alternative for me. [Edited on December 5, 2012 at 6:56 PM. Reason : I have a narrow mind when it comes to music.]
12/5/2012 6:55:13 PM
12/5/2012 10:16:31 PM
I listened to it yesterday and heard Temple of the Dog, Live - Lightning Crashes, Passion Pit and something just absolutely terrible that Shazam tells me is a band called Sponge
12/6/2012 12:11:18 AM
There is nothing about that station that is alternative, much less, far too alternative. Just another shitty Clear Channel station masquerading as a quasi-alternative station. #FuckClearChannel
12/6/2012 12:16:05 AM
100.3 is my savior. It's got a lot of syndicated crap like Loveline cause it's an Iheartradio station but they still find my groove 75% of the time and the DJ's are pretty cool too. The big downfall is they take anybody's advertising money and put a lot of enzyte-like supplement ads on the air.
12/6/2012 8:44:09 AM
100.3 isn't too bad, good point. Weak signal though (Greensboro right?) so it doesn't always come in.
12/6/2012 9:40:25 AM
I think it's even further and comes from Winston-Salem.
12/6/2012 2:35:20 PM
12/6/2012 2:41:15 PM
^^^Yea, 100.3 is on the edge for my car antenna in Carrboro. I can usually pick it up here and it sounds good, and can travel as far as Durham, but any further east, forget about it.^I was surprised about the Sponge thing too. They are obviously not a huge band, but Plowed got a lot of airtime when it was released. I like that one song, dunno about the rest of the album though.
12/6/2012 3:32:28 PM
Yeah I always liked Sponge, at least for 2-3 singles they had. Maybe the person that posted that is too young to remember them?
12/6/2012 3:51:35 PM
12/6/2012 4:44:59 PM
^Eh, not really. They have a good music choice, but their advertisers are at times questionable, and the shows like Loveline stink. But when they are playing music, they do alright.
12/6/2012 5:56:42 PM
100.3 is alright - they tend to play a few songs way too much, but still get occasional goodness. What other station plays on 100.3? Around Wade it randomly picks up preachers and gospel music.
12/7/2012 3:08:57 AM
heard some old ass 311 the other day. like stuff from their first album. was pretty cool.
12/7/2012 9:00:22 AM
I was listening on my way home yesterday and heard some old 311, followed by Atlas Genius and Rise Against. Other times that I've tuned in there was a lot more of the 96Rock type music, but overall I like this station enough to add it to the rotation
12/7/2012 9:07:29 AM
^^^Apparently the only other station broadcasting on 100.3 in NC is WLGP, a gospel station out of Jacksonville.Once before I moved to the Triangle, I was driving into work at like 5:00 on 64 between Tarboro and Rocky Mount, and was scanning through my presets and actually caught 100.3 way out there. I was really surprised. It only lasted about 10 minutes, as I approached Rocky Mount it started to fade, but that is the farthest I have ever picked up 100.3.
12/9/2012 7:47:35 AM
So did anybody notice that 100.7 The River has now become Classic Rock WRDU? They dropped Kitty Kinnin and basically have resurrected 106.1 on a new channel.
