The women defeated North Greenville 111-39 in an exhibition last night. 8 players scored in double figures with Kody Burke leading the way with 22 points. The big addition for the team this year is JuCo transfer Markeisha Gatling. She went to high school at Athens Drive and will give us size and strength at center. Marissa Kastanek is our lone senior and the team seems to have good depth.

First game is Friday at NOON vs Wofford in the Sheraton Raleigh Wolfpack Invitational. Auburn and Maine are the other teams in the tourney.

Women beat Charleston Southern 81-54 this past Tuesday.

Lost 66-64 to Florida on Friday, but defeated Arizona State 72-68 yesterday.

They finish up in Las Vegas today at 5:30 vs Northern Iowa.

New additions Len'Nique Brown and Markeisha Gatling have really helped. Gatling went to Athens Drive, but had to go to JuCo. Her strength/size at center has really helped us.

Women lost 68-51 to Michigan State. Got way behind early, but trailed 39-32 at the half. Opened the 2nd half well and cut it to 39-38, but then Michigan State went on a 10-0 and held the lead from there.

Next game for the women is Sunday at LSU.

Women defeated Elon 88-73 today in Reynolds to improve to a 6-4 record. Next game is Saturday at 2 pm vs Presbyterian and you will get in free with your ticket for the men's game vs Norfolk State.

The women fought hard tonight, but Duke pulled away in the end to win 67-57. Next game is at Wake this Sunday and then they return home to play UNC on Thursday.

Women lost 69-56 at Wake. State had 20 turnovers and Wake had 29 fast break points. The team took a step back from they game against Duke. Record is 8-7 (0-3) with UNC coming to Reynolds on Thursday.

Women lose a tough one to UNC. Had a 10 point lead in the early part of the 2nd half and made some bad mistakes. The worst was UNC was up 2 and had a 1-1. They missed the front end and Gatling got the rebound, but tried to pass it to Marissa who was running up the court and didn't see the pass. The ball went straight out of bounds and then UNC made both free throws. 70-66 final.

Women travel to Virginia on Sunday.
