Wow, sure is getting dark early. Wait, I know. Let's set the clock forward by an hour so it gets dark even earlier.

They keep shifting it each year it seems to make for more evening daylight. I think eventually we will do away with it once we quit farming and run out of food and start eating each other.

This is a very old topic, to wit:

The gods confound the man who first found out
How to distinguish hours! Confound him, too,
Who in this place set up a sundial,
To cut and hack my days so wretchedly
Into small portions! When I was a boy,
My belly was my sundial -- one surer,
Truer, and more exact than any of them.
This dial told me when 'twas proper time
To go to dinner, when I had aught to eat;
But nowadays, why even when I have,
I can't fall to unless the sun gives leave.
The town's so full of these confounded dials
The greatest part of the inhabitants,
Shrunk up with hunger, crawl along the street.

Instead of 'sticking' with DST, what you would do is just move all the time zones 1 hour ahead and stay on their standard time. Eastern would be on Atlantic, Central would be on Eastern, etc...

I agree. 9pm should be the darkness time year round. It would probably have a marked effect on suicide rates too.

waking up and driving to work in the dark in the higher latitudes sucks ass. when is dawn in Seattle these days? 7:20 am. And then the sun comes up at 4 am in the summer. time zones should be curved in the northern half of the hemisphere instead of following lines of longitude/state lines

I would much rather have the light at the end of the day. Nothing sucks more than when you get off of work and it is already dark out. No one gets up to mow their lawn in the morning and a lot of people like to go running/walking after work. The change of the time is kind of silly though. All they need to do is make the standard banker hours 7-4 and it would be the same as DST. You wouldn't be waking up any earlier, or later.

^Statistics actually show it causes more deaths and energy usage. I still like it over standard time though.

http://www.wfmynews2.com/article/news/nation-now/why-no-one-understands-daylight-saving-time/83-527291539

I would rather have the extra light after work than before work. I think most people feel the same way. I used to work at a warehouse where we had different shifts. The earliest shift was 6 am to 2:30 pm. That was the most popular shift and hard to get on. The least popular shift was 11 am to 8:30 pm. No one wants to work odd shifts and get off when the fun is over.

^^^agreed, but many parents whine about taking children to school in the dark. I don't get it. You drive to school, drop them off, they're inside for hours...

I do not understanding wanting more daylight hours in the morning when the vast majority of people are stuck indoors.

start school an hour later in the winter, they get out at 2 or 3pm so no problem going later

^^What I don't get is the increase in car wrecks after the switch to dst. It's either going to be dark in the morning, or at night, so you really aren't increasing the amount of rush hour hours in the dark.
