that's a little embarrassing.

It's mostly embarrassing that they're student tickets.

The game of Thanksgiving weekend always has empty seats. Might as well try to bring out more folks. I'd say this is a positive sign, the athletics department saying fans are more important than bringing in the $$$ (then again, a seat sold at half price is more money than an empty one).

Actually, I am frustrated as a season ticket holder when they do this. Sure we want the stadium full, but when you offer a groupon/discount it means you overpriced the tickets to begin with. Therefore, you charged loyal season ticket holders a premium (above and beyond lifetime rights), and at the same time are making it impossible to recoup close to face value should they attempt to sell their tickets on the secondary market.

I am not sure how this is embarrassing. It's a Thanksgiving weekend game against a bad, boring opponent. Better to sell some tickets this way than have them not used.[Edited on October 17, 2012 at 7:18 AM. Reason : ^ anything you buy has some inherent risk.]

Aspiring improvisers and sketch comedians in Chicago. It's apparently an intense fucking grind working there.[Edited on October 17, 2012 at 9:32 AM. Reason : poop out one description, go to the next asap, rinse repeat]

I'm glad they do this. The student section is notoriously empty during the Thanksgiving game. Why not try to gain a few extra dollars for NC State athletics AND help fill up the stadium?30 bought already today = $1800 for NCSU. Why would they not do it?It does slightly hinder season ticket holder with re-sale, but ultimately you pay face value to guarantee your seat. Supply and demand will alter your ticket value anyhow.

better to sell now while we are on a high after a big win
10/17/2012 9:35:36 AM
^^Groupon doesn't do this for free.

I don't see how this is a bad thing. They are selling student tickets. Normally student tickets are free to the students. So anything they make is pure profit. And as others said instead of having empty sections, its going to put bodies in the stands. I'm all for it. And I jumped on it as quick as I could.

And just like that, the groupon is sold out. That didn't take long.

I don't know why they couldn't just make this a Special Sale on the gopack ticketing page. O well. As a season ticket holder, I don't really care about cheaper seats being offered after I have already received mine. Supply and Demand, that's how goes I guess. I would rather see a full stadium than know I paid more for a ticket. Maybe the Groupon deal is suppose to be an attempt at capturing any people with little to no school allegiance that see this deal and think that it might be an interesting experience. Whatever, just fill the stadium and win.
