Has anyone here tried building an optical mouse? I am trying to build a Bluetooth based optical mouse from scratch, so I would definitely benefit from your know-how! Avago's ADNS-3000 is one of the chips that does it well, but I'm looking for other suggestions / references to people who know how to build one! Thx.

You know they already make these right? You can buy one for like $10.[Edited on August 20, 2012 at 10:18 PM. Reason : asdf]

My guess is there is a post somewhere on some Gamerforum about how building your own "1337 Accuracy" mouse can up your K/D ration by .37. You can do it even better if you all solid state Japanese Capacitors with gold connections.

Guys, thank you for pointing out the current selling price I am trying to use optical mouse sensor to build a pretty cool gadget, not remote controlled socks, but something definitely outrageous. I just need to know how to build one on a stock PCB. I guess I need to know how small of a box can it fit into, etc.
