I think this year is going to be special, worthy of this classic image from the TWW archives. Last year we did a separate preseason thread, which was a poor decision in hindsight, since all it really accomplished was the lessen the page length of the season thread, whom's number of pages are our chief rallying cry to faggot infiltrator fanbases like Atlanta and San Diego. But we're going to start the march to XLVII right here. You know the players; I don't have to Tom Sorensen your asses. Lets get to the games.Tampa should be improved, but I still like us to take the opener. Freeman had a garbage year and even with a rebound he'll likely be rusty out of the gate. It's Shciano's first game ever and he'll have some butterflies, might even shit his pants, while Rivera will be relaxed watching Cam throw for a comfortable W. If the preseason opener was any indication, New Orleans won't miss a beat without Payton and company. I expect Panther fans to expect a W, and I expect them to be disappointed. Our defense will be much better, but Brees can put up 30 on anyone. He'll get there soon, but I don't think Cam is quite ready to keep up. Short week with New York coming in; I'll be Myrtle Beach drunk. Eli Manning has played two of the best games of his life in the two biggest games of his life, and deserves the accolades. But look at the body of work. He's above average, nothing more. Clutch, yes, but are you scared of him? He's rated 97 in Madden, for Christ sake. I expect a shootout, with Cam and pulling it out, and Eli making an Eli Face. Georgia Dome next, and they just always seem to have our number, especially at their place. I think we take a lead early, but they blow it late as we curse and throw shit at the TV. Michael Turner has one of his classic 150/3 games and fans call for McDermott's head. I factored in the mini bye week, but I still think we lose.Seattle comes next, and its unfortunate that the one biggest disadvantages for them is mitigated with the game being at four instead of one. That means they won't be tired, and I think they're going to be a decent team. Still, were not going to lose to Seattle at home. That's a loss last season, but I think a game we win this year. We hit the bye week at 3-2, with Dallas coming to town. They're a scary team to me, with an offense that can keep up with us and and D that can get to Newton. This should be a tight one, but I like the Panthers. We travel up to Chicago, and I just don't think Jay Cutler is that good, even with the new weapons, and I think we'll have payback on our minds after last year. If we can contain Hester (big fucking if), we'll win this game. Next its to Washington, where its Cam/RGIII, a clash worthy of making the flight up. I think Griffin has a good, not great, year, but they're still going to be a team that can only consistently get 17-21 points. They can't keep up with Ace Boogie, and we win by 10+. 6-2 halfway home; can't really complain. And, finally, we're back to Charlotte for the grudge match of the century as John Fox makes his much anticipated. It's gonna be great to boo the shit out of him, but he doesn't scare me. Peyton Manning does. I think this one is a classic shootout, with the vet getting the best of the young pup as Prater hits a bomb at the gun. Tampa comes in and I think we bounce back with a win by two touchdowns. Monday night in Philly is going to be fun. Pondering making the journey. Vick has one of his famous fantasy games where he singlehandedly wins your week as they drop 40+ and win easily. Critics say Cam looks like he's wearing down, and he responds the next week with a monster game of his own, as we take the Chiefs to the woodshed. 8-4 Atlanta comes back and we're ready for them this time. Beason and Kuechkly shut down Turner in his tracks and Ryan makes some crucial mistakes. Next up is the Conflict of Interest Bowl. I'll tell you one thing right now: If you call yourself a Panthers fan and react positively to anything good Philip Rivers does for three and a half hours on December 16th, you can get the fuck out right now. Unfortunately, the scumbags get their wish, and San Diego takes us down. Oakland comes just before Christmas, and after McFadden's inevitable season ending injury, Mike Goodson has taken over and turned into a legit thread. He torches us for close to 200, including an obscene gesture at Rivera as he races down the field untouched. But being the Raiders, they still have enough goofball fuckups to get us our tenth win. Then its down to the Superdome, where we always seem to end the year. I still think Brees is one step ahead. Crazy fun to game to watch, ends up over 70 points total. Saints take the division, we sneak in as a wildcard at 10-6.Anything can happen once you get to the postseason. We're uniquely equipped to make a run if we get in, because we have one of the most explosive teams in the game. If we get hot for a month, we can beat anyone in the league. Teams like Baltimore and Atlanta...they're limited by their offenses. They're in the playoffs most every year, but they consistently come up short. Their floors are higher than ours, but their ceilings our lower. Think about it this way...we're more likely to lose WTF games than them, but you could never see Matt Ryan going into Lambeau and beating Rodgers in a playoff game. If Cam was hitting on all cylinders, I could definitely see him stealing the show. This is all wild speculation. All I really care about is keeping him healthy and entertaining the shit out of me every Sunday. My nigga.

Hoping Cam got his sophomore slump out of the way during the stretch where he struggled last year. If he's consistently good this year we should have a top 3-4 offense. Now our defense was #32 and our special teams was #32 with a bullet last year. If we expect both to rebound to middle of the pack then we could be a Super Bowl contender for sure (GB and NO both sported awful defenses and NEP has had their fair share of them the past few seasons). On the other hand our schedule is legitimately tough. 7-9 or 8-8 is probably our floor barring huge injuries. 12-4 is possible if everything clicks (obviously unlikely).I'm going with 9-7 which would make us slightly unlikely to make the playoffs. Definitely going to be an exciting season. 10-6 is very achievable but that won't definitely be enough to make the playoffs this year.
8/7/2012 11:04:50 PM
keep forgetting about MNF in philly, that may be doable for me
8/7/2012 11:20:12 PM
I'm going to try to make it to the Panthers - Skins game the first week of November. I'm excited to get a chance to go to another team's stadium and watch a game.
8/7/2012 11:28:00 PM
if Beason and Edwards stay healthy, we'll win 10 games and make the playoffsI fully expect Thomas Davis to miss at least half the season, but luckily we drafted a replacement
8/7/2012 11:46:04 PM
as dumb as it sounds, I'm not expecting a Sophmore Slump from Cam at allhe won't have as many rushing yards/TD's, but I am beyond confident in his ability to become a purer passer. nobody in the history of the league has had his skill set/work ethic so I sincerely think he's going to blow even more minds this yearI'll gladly take 10-6 and see whatever the hell happens in the postseasonit's going to be just another early building block (or ten) of an extended period of greatness/feltio
8/8/2012 12:51:49 AM
John Fox makes his much anticipated.
8/8/2012 6:57:16 AM
got to go to training camp last week...few observations:1) I have serious questions on TD. Seemed pretty limpy aroudn the sidelines (wasnt practicing).2) Gamble tweaked his groin it appeared to me, and Rivera held him out on Saturday fan fest. His time is nearly up...but when i look back on him i think he's been extremely serviceable over the years. He just never attained shut down corner ability.3) Kuechly is the REAL deal. Could be the smartest player on the roster. Always seems to know where to be, even being a rookie.4) Beason is a manchild. That is all.
8/8/2012 8:41:54 AM
^ Again, Gamble is coming off his best season and was arguably the #1 CB in the league last year... So its a little early to write him off.
8/8/2012 8:57:47 AM
LOL at serious questions about TD. I'll answer them, he's done.
8/8/2012 9:15:04 AM
Best case for him is a situational pass rusher, playing no more than 40% of the snaps or so. I don't think he can ever be an every down guy again.
