Just read this book... a little bit different from his normal work - a ton of historical research had to be done - but it's a good read. Has anyone else read this? Whenever i read a SK book or story these days, I'm ALWAYS looking for connections to the dark tower series. (There were several references to "19" in this for example.)

Bought this for my Dad for Christmas or his birthday (forget which, they're 2 months apart). He liked it. I'll probably borrow it the next time I'm home as it does seem quite interesting.

read it in jan or feb. was pretty entertained. like most King books, however, it was about 200 pages too long i thought.

read it last year - it was good, although I agree with ^ it was a little too long.it raised some questions however, and I'd like to understand more about how it ties back in to the DT series

It was good but too long, as said. He gets boners from weird things like dancing and aw golly ol fashioned love.

I thought it was good.I felt like King had a fascination with smoking while reading this book.

I guess i meant that i got all the obvious references, but I'd like to know more about the yellow card man and that whole thing.Just like I'd like to know more about how The Talisman / Black House tie back in to The DT... like I get the obvious stuff but there's apparently a lot more to the story and I want that explored

I haven't read Talisman, but I know it is the precursor to Black House.Black House is pretty much about one of the Crimson King's lackeys using the house (a door between our worlds) to get children that have a psychic gift like Sheemie Ruiz (from Wizard and Glass) and turn them into breakers in order to destroy the beams. That may be the obvious connection from that book; but its the main/only one that I know of.

^^you really need to read The Talisman, way better than Black HousePeter Straub is good in general, writes some weird shit

as with pretty much every King novel that I have read, great start, good middle, rushed "wtf, its over??" end

I felt that way with IT. This is a spoiler for anyone who hasn't read it, but the damn thing is at least 20 years old, so sorry.I was captivated throughout the whole book (except for when it got weird in the sewers and they all did the chick) and then at the very end - we find out that this thing, Pennywise is a spider? An f'n spider? Gimme a break. I felt so cheated.[Edited on August 5, 2012 at 9:00 PM. Reason : y]

Am I the only one who is incredibly disappointed with just about everything he's written after his car accident?

I will say the ending is probably the weakest part of this book.I also read "under the dome" and it had a pretty weak ending too.And hell, I wasn't that happy with the ending of "The Stand" or "The Dark Tower" series. I still enjoy reading his stuff though!
