I was surprised that I could not find a thread about the PS Vita. Anyone pick one up yet?I picked up one the other day and so far am very impressed. Only have MLB the Show and Hot Shots golf but will probably pick up madden too. Only problem is that it requires a sony memory card....you cant just buy a generic version.

I kinda want one. I'm fascinated by the 3DS's streetpass feature, and the Vita's Near takes it a step further with gifting. My buddy had his at PAX East this year and was able to download all sorts of little games and things from the hundreds of people there carrying them around. Also, the download play looks pretty cool if more games allow for it.

I really like that you can upload/download saves from the cloud if you have cross platform games. I have a Road to the Show on my PS3 and I was able to save it and bring it with me to work so I have something to do while I shit.

Ya, I love that feature; I love the idea of games being multi-platform. If I buy a game one console, I'd love that license to extend to all of the consoles I own. It works for iOS devices and [I believe] Microsoft ones (XBLA-->Windows Live), so with Sony and Nintendo having handhelds for years now it's great to see that happen. I was hoping to see some of this when Steam game to PSN for Portal II: Buy a game on PSN and play it on your Steam account, but I don't think there have been any other developments of that sort yet.At the moment, the price point's a little high for me; I probably wouldn't own a 3DS if an awesome friend hadn't bought for me as a Christmas gift. I think my girlfriend would kill me if I spent $250 on a console while we still have the 360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite, 3DS, and PC.

I have one and really like it. The only thing I dislike is the lack of games, but I guess that's a good thing since I'm broke as hail

I feel that way about my 3DS. It's mostly DS games, DS ports w/ 3D cutscenes, or remakes of old games (looking at you Ocarina of Time 3D).

I bought a PS3 a few years back and can't stand the POS. I never play it. I bought a 3DS a year or so ago, and never play it either. There isn't really a single Vita game that even remotely interests me at all.So of course I just bought a Vita. It really is a good time to buy one though. $179 and you get a white Vita, a 4GB memory card, Assassin's Creed III, PS All Stars, and a 3 month trial to PS+ which supposedly gets you free copies of Uncharted, Gravity Rush, WipEout 2048, Jet Set Radio, Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack, and Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. Plus I got a free month of Amazon Prime, which will come in handy for Christmas Shopping.

This thread is kind of sad:- Major game handheld.- Thread created 5 months ago.- 8 posts total. But in related news, I typically buy handhelds for specific games, if I ever buy handhelds at all (DS was my last one in 2007). And from my (very brief and limited) research on the Vita, all the games are just secondhand extensions of console titles. So essentially what I'm getting at is: what is the appeal of portable gaming devices in the age of smart phones and games that are less-than-challenging?[Edited on November 23, 2012 at 8:13 PM. Reason : although, Final Fantasy is a solid counter-argument.]

I just picked up Madden and the new NFS for $20 a piece from the EA Black Friday Sale. I've now spent more money on video games today than I have the rest of the year combined.[Edited on November 23, 2012 at 8:34 PM. Reason : well I'm trying to, but it looks like their website is shitting bricks]

I love this little gadget. I took it with me on a flight to Vegas and watched a couple of movies, played a bit of my baseball franchise, and I just ordered Madden for $13 online and Hot Shots Golf for $11.It's a great device for people who like to play games casually, and those who are nuts about gaming and like to take it everywhere.I like it better than phone gaming for a few reasons:1) Bigger, more complex games with better graphics2) Push buttons, rather than touch screen - although touch screen is an option 3) Bigger screen than a phone.

I gotta say, Sony really managed to take everything that the PS3 is about and compact it down into a portable device. Now I can go over to a friends house and download software updates just like I can at home. It's so amazing!

So I found it pretty annoying that the charging cable couldn't be used with my iPhone/iPad adapters or in a computer or with my mophie battery. So I was googling and I found this page which contains instructions for how you can hack a regular USB extension cable into something that lets you charge through any USB port. $1.45 on eBay later...Works just like it should have in the first place.
